Low oxygen level false alarm

Post by Stormynights » Mon Apr 29, 2013 11:50 am

As I am sitting here my blood oxygen level is running about 67. I have a headache and feel lightheaded. Is this cause for alarm? I don't have a doctor appointment coming soon.

If you are fairly sure the reading is accurate and you are having symptoms this warrants an immediate trip to the nearest emergency room.

After I took a shower my level shows in the High 70's. I just panicked for nothing. I still feel like crap but my oxygen level is normal for me now. Thank you all for the replies.

70's are normal for you?? Are you on O2 and you are taking the readings off your O2? Blood O2 saturations of in the 70s won't preserve brain or heart function. I still say, go to the ER.

Fortunately I didn't go to the ER. I called the doctor's office and they told to go immediately. I instead went to the doctor's office. My oxymeter was off. I have been under a lot of stress lately and I do use oxygen at night. I don't check my oxygen level during the day and my little meter doesn't record so It hadn't been checked in months. I thought this was my second oxymeter that had quit working. Today I noticed a little happy face sticker inside the meter over the light sensor. We had 2 year old twins staying with us for a couple of months and it didn't take long for me to figure out the problem. I am fine and my meter is fine. It just don't work with nail polish or happy face stickers.

I am glad to hear that you figured out what was going on.

Nail polish and happy face stickers can cause problems...
