good news keep flying in -

Post by johnthomasmacdonald » Sun Apr 28, 2013 2:57 pm

On saturday I got an emergency call from my sleep doctor's resident. It seems my titration sleep test on Tues turned up heart problems with a very erratic rhythm and they want me to see a cardiologist ASAP. ALso my sleep test showed no centrals and they gave me new settings to use which are basically the same settings i came up with on my own using apap - I was using epap of 8 and and ipap of 13, they told me to go with epap 8 and Ipap 12. First night i had an ahi of 37 . My sleep doctor doesn't believe in the results from the machines. I figure i'm back to square one. I think my only hope of ever getting my apnea under control will be through my own efforts and the help of the forum. PUGSY!!!!!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

only kidding by the way, it is what it is.

Sorry to hear this, but being sent to a cardiologist now is a blessing in disguise. Hope that they will have an easy solution.

If your AHI is 37 with no centrals, it sounds like you need a pressure increase and a new sleep doc. With heart rhythm disorders, make sure you are getting plenty of magnesium in your diet and/or with supplements (not mag carbonate). Also need to check other elements. Note that magnesium levels are not easy to measure. Also, what are your vitamin D levels?

I would not ignore the possibility of needing coenzyme Q10 for your mitochondria, either. There are lots of them in heart muscle.

What you urgently need is the help of a natural health doc who can work with you to correct your nutritional deficiencies and get you back on the road to being well.

JohnMac has nights with nothing exciting going on...AHI below 5...then nights where all hell breaks loose with tons of centrals.
I have no idea what is going on. It makes no sense. Something is changing but I have no idea what it might be.
Heck, maybe what the machine is flagging really isn't something that would be flagged in a sleep lab. What the cause is...I have no idea and my bag of tricks has been depleted.

John, Get the heart thing sorted out for sure.
Can you post a couple of your recent ugly wave form graphs with your centrals for someone else to look at? Maybe a new pair of eyes will have an idea. The stuff I have is way old and not even with your current machine.

If you can borrow a pulse oximeter for a night or two that data may help sort things out.
