Well this is just weird. I woke up this morning with no mask on. I feel pretty good at this point but who knows later. My mask and hose was neatly placed on my night stand and I don't remember taking it off at all. I checked my data and it showed I only used it for a hour and 22 minutes?????!!!

As many on this forum know, I very much enjoy how cpap,
if you let it, expands your horizons and...can...open your
mind to so many new things.
At the suggestion that possibly aliens removed the mask,
I have done a bit of research into this alien theory.
One explanation for "alien abduction" is sleep paralysis.
I had never heard of sleep paralysis. Among other things,
it is "linked" to many different disorders, one being OSA.
This discovery lead me further down the rabbit hole to,
REM atonia. This is a condition during REM sleep due to
motor neuron inhibition. This could lead to REM behavior disorder...
in which sufferers act out their dreams. This paralysis generally occurs
as you are going to sleep or upon waking. These two conditions, know as
hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations, can be detected w/a
Electrooculography (EOG/E.O.G.). This measures the resting potential of the retina.
These hallucinations are associated w/sense of a menacing presence
in the room. This in turn further dissolves into the works of the deep recesses
of the brain.....what I call the abyss.

....so, attempting to put all of this together, the way I see it is this:
if, while going to sleep your motor neurons have unresolved
inhibition problems, they may feel that sense of a menacing presence in the
room. From suggestions placed into the abyss from non-factual television
programming, they may have fears of anal probing, which further exacerbates
the unresolved neuron inhibition fears. In an attempt to avoid this procedure,
the abductee attempts to divert the attention of the abductors,
by removing the mask and present the appearance of going about their normal business...
and hopefully will be passed over.

Of course, this is just a SWAG on my part. ....BUT, should future science
find proof of this, I believe all new cpcp machines should be equipped
w/EOG(see above) capability, so that this theory of alien abduction and the associated
probing can be put to rest. ....and we can all get some much needed rest.

I've been on treatment for the past year, and every couple of months, the same thing happens to me. The other morning when I awoke, not only were my mask and hose placed neatly on my nightstand -- so was the wrist splint I wear each night (for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome).

It's weird, isn't it?!? It makes me wonder if there are other things I do in my sleep of which I have no memory. (In college, I would occasionally engage in telephone conversations -- apparently while sleeping -- of which I had no memory.)

I can only assume it occurs when I am in very deep sleep. After many years of being unable to achieve deep, restorative sleep, I have decided to regard these occasional incidents as a good thing.

Unless it happens to you frequently, I wouldn't worry about it. Sweet dreams!

Ambien is known to cause people to do weird stuff while asleep. Not as weird as anal probing alien abductions but pretty weird nonetheless.
