Selling used pap equipment?
Selling used pap equipment?
Is offering used pap equipment for sale still okay here?
I know about second wind and craigslist, think I heard ebay doesn't allow. Any other places for this?
I've been trying to determine a fair price to ask, but am not finding many places selling pap equipment...I wonder why that is; sure can't be because insurance in the US has improved!

I don't think most people here mind someone selling a machine or mask, maybe even a couple items at once. The rancor occurs when newish people put long lists of equipment, supplies, masks etc all in one post. That can draw the attention of the moderators, who BTW own CPAP.com, a business that would be competing with the new poster's products ... and who also hosts this forum, pays the bills etc. I recommend keeping all exchanges, prices and other details in the PM section. Most people here like PayPal because if a deal goes sideways Paypal will reimburse the buyer.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I don't have that much, but I'm having trouble figuring out "the going rate" with the sources I knew about no longer in play. Time to polish off my google-fu...

check here first, they sell used equipment, even older stuff:
http://www.secondwindcpap.com/
Next go Craigslist and look in the Health and Beauty section, when there search for CPAP.

Re: Selling used pap equipment?
I'm not even sure why it's a problem when people have bunches to sell. Certainly there are two well-known sellers on the board (they are both DME's that are selling equipment they don't want to stock for various reasons).
I could see why the board SPONSORS wouldn't want that, given they actually run an internet DME! But when you look at "Local Services", for instance, you realize the board sponsors have taken great care to separate this board from their business. (I really respect that about them, by the way.)
The biggest problems with private sales are:
1) It's hard to determine trustworthiness without history, and it's hard to create history without trustworthiness.
2) Correct pricing. The machine lose a lot of value once you use them. It's startling, but consider that people like McDover are selling brand new machines at nearly half-price. Obviously a used machine is going to be less.
Secondhandcpap sells machines they have re-conditioned. Since you don't have the ability to do that, you need to factor that in to the cost as well. So one way to go is to find similar machines on secondhandcpap and price a good chunk under it.
Best of luck!

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.
Re: Selling used pap equipment?
I've already checked those sites; my model isn't listed. I have an offer from 2nd wind, and expect to be able to sell it privately for at least that much. It's a good, clean machine, with low hours, and the pressure's been tested by a local DME.
The point about credibility is valid, this is why I believe a local sale will be my best option. People 'round here aren't paranoid, just suitably cautious, and meeting in person gives additional info about a person's reliability.
I'm curious, what does "reconditioning" involve?

Re: Selling used pap equipment?
I don't know the specific of reconditioning. I would be happy to offer the following guess:
- thorough cleaning of the entire air path and other internal parts
- calibration to be sure the machine is accurately measuring pressures, etc.
- possibly a firmware upgrade

I think we're wasting a lot of time and effort here...why don't you just list what you have and see if anyone is interested?

Re: Selling used pap equipment?
I'll list the machine here now, though I'm hoping to find a local, cash buyer and avoid payment, shipping, and insurance factors.
resmed apap - s8 autoset II
There's the standard accoutrements and some extra stuff. I went into the menu and it listed "Run Hours: 526"

Re: Selling used pap equipment?
I purchased a similar unit on my local Craigslist about 2 years ago for $200. It had 300 hours. I would guess that $150-$200 would be a fair price if the unit is as nice as you say it is.
Since you are looking for a local buyer, it would help if you listed what city you are in.

Re: Selling used pap equipment?
Thanks for the info. That's a little lower than what a reseller offered me...roughly in the ballpark, though.
Since the chances of finding a same-city buyer are quite slim, I'll probably use local venues first. If anyone's interested, he/she can PM me, and if I haven't sold it in a week or so, will consider the logistics of doing a distance sale.
