want to say thanks, been away a while

Post by kayakdoc » Fri Apr 12, 2013 3:53 pm

Folks, when I was first diagnosed I was living in Texas with a dialup modem and limited internet. Keeping up with this board was nigh impossible.

But I want to say thank you to those of you who helped, and helped a lot. I am in CT now, wifi at the library, and tweeting about the cognitive consequences of sleep disorders especially apnea at @BrainsNeedSleep -- My own brain recovered a great deal of its function, though not all, and when I saw family members developing dementia -- I realized that's exactly what was happening to my brain.

So whatever Gods you believe in, may they bless you all for the generosity and kindness you have shown on this board. I hope to return and offer my own few experiences to help others, too, as I have on twitter.

The age of the image of OSA as a MAOM - middle-aged overweight man -- is OVER. A best friend was finally dx'd: she's over 6 feet, probably bout 160, never heavy in her life, and has had it for years. Red Bull is a red flag, isn't it?!

Anyway -- thanks again for helping me get on and stay on the road to recovery. Still using the old REMstar but found out it's Auto! Yay! And a Quattro FX has made mask problems absolutely minimal.

Sleep well, y'all, and thrive.

Hi kayakdoc.

Glad to hear from you and that you're doing well.
I'm still using my old REMstars, too. (Autos & Pro 2s) I managed to pick up a number of practically brand new ones (at very low prices) over the years, so I've had no inclination to get anything newer. The old ones work just fine for me.

Take care and drop in as often as you can and keep us updated.

Den

Just want to say kayakdoc has been linking to a lot of interesting articles on twitter, and is certainly on a public awareness mission regarding the the brain and sleep and related topics. Thanks kayakdoc!

Fishing from a kayak is great but it has it's limitations - what type of fishing are you into?

I have a Tarpon 140 and a Pungo 120 (both Wilderness Systems)

Edit:
You can PM to keep this On Topic if you want.
