I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Its 3:30 and I'm up for the rest of the night

The mask and pressure felt better (I'll check stats in the morning) but once I woke up I couldn't go back to sleep. I kept hearing myself breathe (a little Darth Vader-y) and couldn't just keep laying there listening to myself.

Gonna lay on the couch and read for a while...

Do you have the complete results from your Diagnostic Sleep Study?

Ha! I think so, to some extent. My wife calls me darth vader with all this stuff! She is super supportive though. I am so tired all the time that I really don't have a problem getting to sleep, but if I wake up in the middle of the night, I sit there listening to the darth vader sounds and can't get back to sleep easily. Sometimes it is best to just get up at that point, do something for a half hour or so, like read a book or whatever, then go back to bed and try again. I actually haven't had to use the ear plugs yet, but I have thought about buying some for times like that! If I already had them in the house I would've used them already!

I guess you have The Force!

Hello pandatx,

Super super awesome! I'm assuming you turned in around 10 or 11 ish? If you're getting between 4 to 6 hours you're definitely on the right track. +1 for pugsy on the fruit arrangement, excellent!

At this point your body clock will start to reset and diurnal hormones like cortisol and melatonin will get back in rythym.

Way to go! Please keep posting, it will be very interesting to see how you do over the next few days.

Have a great day!

Jim, your info is always so helpful. That makes me feel better to know that I'm on the right track. It will sure be nice to have everything reset and be able to sleep through the night

I am comforted by this Darth Vader quote (lol): "Impressive. Most impressive. Obi-Wan has taught you well. You have controlled your fear."

May the force be with you guys today

When I first started out on cpap six months ago the noises bothered me a little too. I ordered the Pur Sleep calm and clear set of aromatherapy. Then when I went to bed or woke up in the night I would focus on the scent and not the sound. It would keep my brain engage enough to drift off to sleep.
I also have used a night guard for twelve years.

I have no sense of smell Does aromatherapy work if you can't smell it? I'm being totally serious.

PS...I am a yoga lover too

Well at least we didn't get a report about gasping for breath last night... Whew..that's a relief.

What was/is your normal sleep pattern before you started cpap therapy?
Do you take any meds even OTC?
You probably don't have copies of your sleep studies yet??? If not, make a formal request of them and make sure they include the sleep % numbers in each stage along with sleep efficiency.

The Darth Vader sounds...yeah there are some ways to limit the sounds depending on what you are hearing.
First test...plug your ears with your fingers with mask and machine on...does it change the darth vader sounds at all or very much?

I didn't wake up gasping so that was a really big improvement

I actually do have both my sleep study and my titration study reports.

The waking up around that time has been my pattern for a long time. I was hoping the cpap would help me with that. I have been taking 1/2 an Ambien to get to sleep otherwise I literally could (and have) stay up the entire night.

Sleep onset insomnia and sleep maintenance insomnia...trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep.
CPAP therapy helps if the insomnia was caused by the sleep apnea events alone....problem is...often the insomnia isn't solely caused by sleep apnea.
Your machine is doing a great job fixing the sleep apnea stuff but the bad sleep from other causes (whatever they are) it doesn't do such a good job because that is not what it is designed to do.

Atenolol....side effect ...insomnia...so it isn't helping things. It's a recent drug for you so we can't place all the blame on it but it could be adding to the problem.
Ambien....half a dose at bedtime...it's wearing off after 4 hours. So not unexpected result there.

Can you get us a copy of your sleep studies? Or at least tell us what they say about Sleep in general....how many minutes to get to sleep..% of each stage...sleep efficiency...all the stuff related to quality of sleep.
