DME asked for my prescription

I just got off the phone with my DME (the one with A___a in their name) to order my supplies. After I was told what I could get (which I knew) she asked me about my compliance (every night, 7+ hours per night) and then asked me when my last sleep study was (my only sleep study was in May of 2012) and when was my last prescription written (my only rx was the same as the sleep study and I thought they were good for many years). She asked when I last saw my sleep doc (again May of last year). When I told her my PCP took over as my sleep doctor, she took all of his information.

Anyone else have these questions asked by your DME or is this yet another A___a self appointed hurdle builder. I get the feeling in the not too distant future (probably May) I will be asked for a new prescription and sleep study.

Just when you think you know how to play the game, they change the rules!

Does it have 7 letters with two being the letter "s"? Oh wait, that does not end in a...

Probably will not ask for new sleep test (unless you wanted new machine). May want updated script in some states. I write it out for my PCP, he copies and signs the script. Nice guy.

If probably varies by state, but I get a new script for supplies every year when I see my sleep doc. He faxes a copy to my DME of choice.

I've never been asked for evidence of a sleep study for anything. The one I have was done in 08.

I called the DME after 5 years and asked what I needed to do to get a new machine. She said I just needed a prescription from any doctor. I got my regular doctor to write one for an S9 autoset. Called the DME back to say I had it. They contacted the doctor, got the machine, and gave it to me. Never asked to see the prescription--in fact she asked me what my pressure was when I went to get the machine. They did balk a little about the S9--said the regional manager did not approve it but not to worry, they would get it done. And they did.

The medical mafia is pushing really hard these days to generate recurring revenue by putting you on lifetime drugs and medical equipment and requiring you to pay the doctor for unnecessary office visits and tests in order to keep getting your drugs or supplies.
