Higher Pressure and now mouth breathing?

Post by Sam793 » Sun Mar 24, 2013 10:47 am

My initial pressure was 8.0 and had no issue with mouth breathing. As soon as my pressure was increased to 10.0 I started mouth breathing for the first time. My question is, has anyone else experienced this? I thought I was doing so well and I really don't want to go to a full mask.

Yes, it does work that way, the higher the pressure the more prone for mouthbreathing. The higher the needed pressure the more the leak becomes, at 15cm for me seems to be the trigger, I have been using a nasal mask for the last two years, with fair treatmend, but have lately had to return to my FF mask, and things are doing better, sleeping sounder. When air is blown in at a higher pressure it has to go somewhere, and if there's less resistance through your mouth than in your airway, that's where it'll go.

Thanks for the info. Grabbed a chin strap today. Hopefully it works well!
