Review of Sleep Study and Oximetry

Post by Gillian » Mon Mar 11, 2013 2:27 am

Hi everyone
Just wanted to let all those wonderful people (esp Molette and Delta Dave - is it possible you are one and the same?) who gave me so much help with my central issues, know that I am having a review at a different sleep lab. My GP agreed that what had gone before was unacceptable and should be looked at again. Thank goodness.

Also, I made the decision to start to decrease my night opiates. In the first week my centrals had dropped by half but unfortunately life wasn't that good so had to go up again by half the amount. Now my centrals are still a lot better but it looks to me as if the FLs not good and breathing still much the same. Anyway hopefully this review in May will help to sort things out.

Have as good a day as you can.

Gillian

mollete and deltadave are not different yet are not quite similar. mollete and Muffy are basically the same, having nothing to do with each other. Muffy and NotMuffy are identical opposites. SAG and mollete are not related, both having the same parents. mollete and mollete and mollete and mollete is the result of a stuck Ctrl+V.

That said, it sure would be nice to get on the fast track for a BiPAP/ASV. These people have dragged their feet unnecessarily ("IMHO") for months.

And not just any BiPAP. That many central apneas need some sort of a Back-Up Rate (ASV, S/T, AVAPS, iVAPS) in the options.

So glad you sorted that one out!!

No options time wise. The doctors at this clinic, one of only two in the area, only come up here on one afternoon a week!!
But, in the mean time what did you think of the dec, tease of centrals after cutting my meds?

Thanks for responding, Molette, or muffy, not muffy, or whatever.

Certainly seems in keeping with "opiate-induced central apnea", and everything that we have covered so far.

Don't forget the ETCO2 at the sleep study. This will be a helpful tool to gauge therapy. If not, then a least a rough idea of what respiratory rate, tidal volume and minute ventilation should be.

Gotcha, I have made a list of all my questions, copied various comments made so that I can use them (unfortunately I can't just remember them!) and of course will take along all relevant paperwork that I have.

Thanks Mollete (correct spelling this time!)

Can you post the graphics for that night (or upload the file)? How was your headache in the AM?

That might offer a clue as to what Minute Ventilation would be a good starting point.
