Heated hose or no?

Post by Deenie-deen » Mon Mar 11, 2013 4:22 pm

I have done 2 sleep studies and get my machine on Wednesday. I know I would like to have the humidifier but I hate breathing warm or hot air. That would have been great to know before I bought my hot tub as I don't like the hot steamy air. Should I not get a heated hose.

Thanks in advance.

The heated hose doesn't really produce a hugely warm feeling air like you are thinking with the sauna.
The heated hose provides a gentle warmth in the hose to help prevent rain out in the hose...condensation in the hose.
While rain out won't hurt you it is highly annoying.
It doesn't blast the nose with hot air at all...in fact it still feels a bit cool coming out the vent.
If you can get the heated hose (I assume the ResMed S9 Climateline) go ahead and get it...you can set it for cooler temps if you wish and not sacrifice humidity. It has a lot more flexibility in settings than the regular hose has.
If your like cooler bedroom temps in the winter time....you will be glad you got it next winter.

Thank you for your reply. If I have some control I think that would be fine. Rainout does not sound like any fun at all.
I went to a sleep place that also sells machines and masks so I will bring my concerns when I have my appointment on Wednesday.

Thank you,

I don't like warm rooms or hot air either. But, I love the climate control hose. It works with humidity well. As the temp rises, it hold more moisture.

Depending on where you buy it at, it doesn't cost much more than a good non heated hose.

My insurance actually covered the heated hose; not the washable tank, though.
