Coming back to try cpap. Only slept 1 night
I can tell I'm having troubles breathing at night again. I was on a resmed s8 autoset ii which to me was way better than the m series. I was able to get 4 hours total a night on the resmed.
My question is there big improvements in the new machines? S9 or pr 60?
Should I keep my s8 autoset or sell it and get the new machine?
My s8 only has like 200 hours I think on it. If anyone is interested.

As an FYI, Resmed did a study that showed that people who had trouble staying sleep on other machines were able to show dramatic improvement in the S9. Of course, keep in mind who ran the study but this isn't the first time I have heard this happening.
Also, as one who has had trouble staying sleep on my DeVilbiss (average 3 hours), I did even worse on the PR System one 750 Bipap that I have as a backup. I have always wondered if the pressure pulses that the PR sends out can make certain people like myself sensitive to those issues. It sounds like you could also be one of those folks.
Personally, if I were you, I would take a chance and get the S9. Of course, only you know what is best and I wish all the luck in the world with your decision.

At what pressure?

I agree with this. I find people have a lot more success on the S9.49er wrote:Hi Chris,chriscummings83 wrote:I can tell I'm having troubles breathing at night again. I was on a resmed s8 autoset ii which to me was way better than the m series. I was able to get 4 hours total a night on the resmed.

The S9 AutoSet (NOT Escape Auto) or PRS1 Auto machines give you a LOT more data and are a lot easier for the patient to read the data from. This allows you to monitor your therapy and figure out what's going on.
Whether they're easier to breathe with is subjective and much clear cut. The S9 is probably a little easier for most people to breathe with, but that's just my impression from what users here say. I do have both an S9 AutoSet and a PRS1 Auto.
You might just want to put on your S8 AutoSet and see if you can sleep with it now and how comfortable you are.
You can save a lot of money buying online if you can get a prescription. cpap.com hosts this web site and is one of the top online dealers.

Pressure 3 years ago was a 7. But I was sick that day and was mouth breathing. The auto puts me around a 9 to a 10.2
I was wondering if I can update my s8 to the same technology as s9 or is it the same already. Just cosmetic update

I've never had an S9, but my last machine was an S8 and I think it's a fine machine. If you think it's worth a try and that you will be more compliant because it's a more comfortable, newer machine by all means
get an S9. I think the important consideration is will you use the new machine? New technology is generally an improvement over older technology.
Good luck and keep us posted on this thread about your progress. Good work getting back on CPAP therapy by the way.

No, can't update the S8 to make it work like S9. ResMed changed the algorithm with the S9...added the heated hose stuff and probably something else on the insides that I can't think of at the moment.chriscummings83 wrote:I was wondering if I can update my s8 to the same technology as s9 or is it the same already. There used to be websites that had great discounts on the machines. Like cheaper cpap. And cpap direct.

How about trying it in cpap mode at 10cm? I wouldn't think there would be much difference between machines in cpap mode.
I have my s9 at 12.2cm and no exhale relief. With this setting, I could probably use any old machine or cheaper one and be ok. Only problem with be data features and built in heated hose.

A guy I know is selling his resmed autoset II for $550. I think I should buy it.

That's the S8 model...the S9 model doesn't have the II after name.chriscummings83 wrote:A guy I know is selling his resmed autoset II for $550. I think I should buy it
Confirm which model for sure before purchasing.
The S9 AutoSet simply says AutoSet...no II
The S8 Autoset II...worth maybe $250 tops if it is low hours.
You can get a low hour S9 AutoSet from secondwindcpap.com for less than $500 without humidifier and humidifier for $90.
Or brand new open box S9 Autoset for $879.
