Respironics system one ds 760

Post by tye » Thu Mar 07, 2013 3:50 pm

Hi again everyone. My DME changed out my Resmed vpap auto today to a respironics system one ds 760 bipap auto. Is this a good unit? The Resmed machine wouldn't turn on last night. They tried changing the power block and still it didn't work so they just gave me a new respironics model since they didn't have another Resmed in stock. I have heard good things about both

I have the 750 model (no heated hose) and I have the S9 VPAP Auto.
Only real difference is the way that the pressure support is delivered in auto mode.
One way is not necessarily better than the other either...just different.
I talked about the differences in my BiPap experiment thread...just skim over the Hybernite stuff

Very minor pros and cons but none are deal breakers.

In all honesty I feel the same no matter which machine I use now that I have used both brands for extended months of use.

Both are good machines. If you already have accumulated a storage locker full of accessories for the ResMed (tubes, filters, humidifier chambers). Then you may care about the change in brands. Otherwise enjoy the new machine. Try out the heated hose option if your insurance covers it.

If you find that your breathing patterns are such that you are fighting against the machine and are uncomfortable then you should switch back to ResMed.

I got the heated hose cause it was in my scrip. I didn't have stock for the Resmed so I didn't mind changing. I was kinda disappointed that something happened to the Resmed unit.

SleepyHead will need the Patch and even then I am not sure it works all that great but try it and see.
Otherwise you can use EncoreBasic
Look in Uncle Bob's signature line here at this link
memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=38643
Be sure to read the Help section because it tells you how to use the software.

EncoreGuide link this will show you examples of what you will see. For a different machine than yours but the basics are the same.

There's a problem with the BiPap side of it. Coming up with some really weird data.
I think they were trying to fix it but I don't know if it was successful or not.
If you get 1590.00 AHI...they weren't successful.
The Bipaps seem to have a little different file something or other than the 60 series of the other machines.
If you do get whacko data...check to make sure that Mask Resistance setting is set to 0...which is off.
If you still have whacko data it won't work yet.

before doing that, the user can take off the "auto" settings on the PR 760, and instead use manually-set EPAP and IPAP settings that are comfortable.

I had a respironics and when it died they gave me a vpap auto 25. I've hated the thing for years and now they're giving me a respironics bipap760. I haven't tried it yet but I'm happy to switch.
