Full face or hybrid mask both giving problems

Post by Jewels109 » Wed Mar 06, 2013 5:18 pm

So I first had a full face mask and I kept getting a rash where the mask sits so I made a mask liner and the mask would slide up to my eye brows so I got a hybrid mask and the first night I used it I had the same red rash and blisters this time so I loosened the headgear or so I thought but now I have a pressure sore under my septum from something on the mask.... Is there any suggestions other than I just have to deal with crap on my face..... I'm now understanding why a lot of people are non compliant.....

Frustrated

Sounds like you are sensitive to the mask material...some people are.
Is the worst of the area now with the hybrid just under the nose (septum). If so give Karen at Padacheek.com a call and see if she has something that will work in the barrel cozy line to act as a barrier between the silicone and your skin up by the nostrils.
The barrel cozy is something I use with my Swift FX. It keeps the silicone from touching my nostrils. That's not why I bought it but was a nice little unexpected plus.
Did you try her mask liners? They don't crawl up the face like the loose one do because hers anchor to the mask.

I looked at hers you had shared the link with me previously and since I sew I made mine identical to hers ..... But I feel like something was pressing on my nose to cause that sore and yes it's right under my nasal septum.... I have tried calling my DME since Monday and she hasn't returned my calls to find out what's wrong maybe I just need to take it all apart and resize etc..... And my Quattro mask with and without the liner I made it goes from below my mouth and above my nose to below my nose and above my forehead..... Crazy thing is I can sleep right thru all that sliding around!!!!!

Have you tried a bit of Lansinoh lanolin ointment where the nasal pillows are resting against the skin below the septum to see if it helps with the rubbing or irritation? It makes a decent enough barrier and promotes healing as well.
Also make sure you don't have that top strap too tight on the Hybrid causing those pillows to abrade the skin.
Wonder if Roosters tights trick would offer the stability needed for the pillows but allow for the pillows to be up off the skin a bit.??? wiki/index.php/Hybrid_Mask_Modifications
I am not much help at all with the Quattro...never even seen one.

Ok so I made my husband go thru that list you sent me the link too and he said I had the wrong sizes and had it TOO tight.... So I made him adjust it and "help" me (he wasn't thrilled about it) but I went and did a mask check and the smiley face came up so I guess it's good to go it is just a little more loose than I had expected which is nice I just don't want any leaks during the night.... Which last nigh he woke me up because he said I had the hose wrapped around my neck and the whistling of the hose woke him up I said SHEEEEESH LOL thanks for caring but I toss and turn like a fish out of water so......
