My Wisp

Post by nwyant » Sat Mar 02, 2013 3:58 pm

I love the Wisp mask. I've settled on the medium size and I've finally gotten adjusted to wear is really comfortable. I slept last night from 10pm until 5:30AM when I had to get up. I went right back to bed and slept until almost 9AM...Best night's sleep I've had in ages and I don't feel tired to day at all. The Wisp is comfortable with no leaks and I love the quick release hose on the front. You don't have to take the whole thing off for a potty break and spend time readjusting it when you get back. Just unclip, turn off the machine, and reclip when you get back..

I too have the Wisp mask and wear the medium size cushion. I think it's comfortable and easy to clean and I actually look forward to bedtime so I can put it on while I read, before I go to sleep. The hose release in front is a great idea, and even if you need to take the mask off entirely that's a simple snap. From what I am led to understand this is a new product and not available everywhere yet. Phillips Respironics makes it; perhaps their website will provide information about which vendors have it in stock...?

I had started with the GoLife nasal pillows for women and they bothered me, so when the guy came out to change masks, he bought three different ones for me to look at and the Wisp was the only soft one that he had with him and I wanted a soft one, not the hard plastic type. So I chose it and I haven't regretted it at all. I tried the large size the first night, but found that it chafed my face because it was too big, but the medium is perfect..

Wisp update

Last night the snap below my right ear came undone and would not stay attached. My mask therefore kept slipping. I think this is the fault of the snap being expected to connect to fabric rather than to another piece of plastic. Anyway, since I didn't have a spare set of headgear I used packing tape to keep it together. Classsssy.

Tomorrow first thing I will be calling my DME provider and asking them to meet with me IMMEDIATELY to provide me with another option. I don't think I'm going to get another Wisp since this seems to be a design flaw rather than an equipment failure.

SB... how long have you had the mask? If within 30 days you should be able to return it for another one.

I did my titration study like 2 weeks ago and I chose the wisp mask but they didn't have it in stock. I had to reschedule the dme appt 3 times and they wouldn't call me back to reschedule so I'm finally going to go in tomorrow to get it. I'm hoping I like it as much as I did in the sleep lab. I'm not liking the mask I'm using currently and I've been breaking out in some areas.

Will I have 30 days from when I get the mask or from when I was supposed to get it? I'm still having issues with rainout and with mouth breathing I haven't been able to resolve. I also haven't been able to look at the data from my machine yet either. My grandfather died on Monday so I got off course with my plans for throwing myself into this. I haven't missed a might though. I'm going to try to solve some of these problems this week.

I hope I like the wisp like you do!

I've had no problems with the headgear so far and I've had my Wisp for almost two weeks now....I really like this mask and have probably settled on the one I will be using from now on. If you like the Wisp why not just get replacement headgear for it rather than switch again. You seemed pretty pleased with it.
