Welcome! I'm a bit new here too, but have been learning so much from everyone... it has been a great help for me as I return xpap therapy after 5 years of hit or miss treatment... now after all I am learning I am 'compliant'
Hope you enjoy the forum too.

Guy,

Welcome to the forum. Do you have insurance, or are you self-pay? The reason I ask is that it might be time to get an updated machine, such as a new S9. That would allow you to semi-retire the S7 and use it as a backup and travel machine. The newer machines can be more comfortable to breathe from, they likely have better data capabilities, and the SD cards are much simpler to deal with.

I do have insurance if you call a HMO insurance. I can see by reading the posts that I am way behind in the technology end of things.
I have a refferal to the pulmonary clinic and hopefully that will lead to a more modern machine.

my main sleep issue has been middle of the night insomnia for about the last six months or so, but hey with all the zombie shows on tv I fit right in most days.

I''m getting that middle of the night insomnia, too. Am tempted to try Melatonin, but some say they feel sad after taking it.

Check with your doctor first, but, don't be afraid of Melatonin. Don't be swayed by "some say".

+ 1 I have found Melatonin to be beneficial for me as well. It has certainly helped me during the more stressful times in life that can, for me, cause my mind to work overtime. Often during these stressful periods I would have difficulty getting myself to relax enough to fall asleep without a period of restlessness. Melatonin helped that for me.

I still occasionally will have that wake up in the middle of the night insomnia and fight to keep the mind from becoming too active in thoughts other than sleep, but taking Melatonin in the middle of the night after waking has never worked for me. I have found that the best thing for me in those middle of the night periods is to relax and concentrate on my breathing, even if it takes a little while and to try my best to keep as much consistency as I can with the times that I go to bed and awake.

Aren't you trying to sway by saying? Isn't that what the doctors at mayoclinic.com do? Isn't that the purpose of cpaptalk.com?

Have a good weekend LSAT!

I'm not trying to 'sway' anyone...I really don't care if you use Melatonin or not....You are not showing my complete quote......I started by saying "Check with your doctor first..."

You are trying to sway her to check with her doctor first.
