Hi again,
Last night was my second night using cpap. I slept more than I usually do without the CPAP! I found the suggested pressure of 0 for nose stuffiness really helped. I still have congestion is AM,, but better than yesterday
Because my lips are still blowing out from air, I wonder if I should check the data. I just don't kow how. The oxygen company wanted me to wait for a month and come back with card...
Thanks so much,

Re: air pressure and reading your results
Hi Dreaming,
That's a great start!
Could you tell us more about your equipment? Even better would be to add them to your profile, as I have done. Don't use the pictures ... use the text. Pictures are harder to be sure of.
Once we know what equipment you have we can help you read the data...
Do you know if air is leaking out of your mouth a lot? If so, there's a few options to try, but that kind of leak is not good over all.
Options range from tape (to keep lips closed), to a chin strap (may or may not work) to a full-face mask that covers the mouth too.
I am assuming that you meant humidity of zero, or pressure RELIEF of zero. Pressure of zero doesn't make sense to me.
What's your prescription call for?
You're in a good place. LOTS of helpful people here!

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.

Accessing Member profile
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for responsing to my post. I was referring to the humidifier setting when I said "O". Thanks for asking for clarification.
What is happening with air coming out of mouth is even though my mouth is closed, it fills with air and forces my lips open...
I tried to fill in profile, but even though I am registered, I am not listed in the profile list....does it take time after first joining to access this?
Thanks,
Dreamingofsleep

I don't think it takes time but there is an option somewhere about whether to display your equipment. I am mobile right now so can't be more specific.
If sure pressure is blowing your lips open I think you're going to need to try a full face mask. As I said you could try using some medical tape to keep your lips closed in the meantime...

Chipmunk cheeks...air goes up the nose and down the airway and instead of proceeding on down the airway it tries to exit prematurely via the mouth. Lips are shut so cheeks inflate until they can't inflate no more and out the lips the air goes.Dreamingofsleep wrote:What is happening with air coming out of mouth is even though my mouth is closed, it fills with air and forces my lips open...
The trick to preventing the air from ever entering the mouth is to use the tongue position to block the air from ever entering the mouth. Easy to do while awake but when we fall asleep the tongue likes to leave its post.
Practice putting your tongue behind your teeth and up to the roof of the mouth...that's how it blocks the air from entering the mouth.
Some people master it and the tongue learns to stay where you put it...some people don't.
Search the forum for chipmunk cheeks and you will see lots of discussions about how to retrain the tongue to stay put or alternatives when it won't stay where you want it.
Your equipment...
See this link helps explain how to enter your equipment. Go to the upper left where you see "User account control" that's where you access your profile.
