I survived the flu season

Everyone around me dropped like flies. The height was around new years. I didn't get the useless flu shot.

I didn't get a cold, sore throat, running nose or flu from Dec-Feb. Everyone at home and work has come down with something. My immune system would normally be very weak due to sleep apnea and dried sinuses. I have always been very susceptible to catching colds. Now that I'm squared away with cpap treatment, my body is able to fend off viruses and bugs. I have also been doing daily sinus rinses.

I am always well stocked with cold/flu/sore throat meds and supplies. Didn't use any of it. It also helps if you wear a helmet all day

It's not for everybody. My wife's a nurse and didn't really have a choice not to get the vaccine. But when she did, she was sick for about 48 hours with flu-like symptoms, then she really got it and missed work for a few days, then a couple weeks later she got a double-whammy (a medical term) and it appeared to come back. I've never gotten the shot and can't remember ever getting the flu in 56 years. But for some people, I suppose the vaccine is good insurance. Trouble is there are often several flu strains floating around that the vaccine makers have to choose among very early in the season, and sometimes they guess wrong.

I'm also a little skeptical every time I hear the CDC and the media breathlessly beating the drum predicting that, ". . . this year's predicted to be a severe flu season . . ." or words to that effect, when nothing out of the ordinary ends up happening. Like the boy who cried wolf, it doesn't inspire confidence when you hear that every year.

Glad you missed the bug this year. Stay healthy.

It started early here in October. I caught it before the shots came out but I had a mild version - maybe last years shot helped. I still got a shot in December. I felt queasy but then I always feel queasy when someone jabs me with a needle.

Not a headline the drug companies want to see

I see a report that 130 million American's get the shot each year. Avg cost is $5-$30.

$$$$ to be made all around from drug companies to pharmacies selling you on injections

Great immune system you have there, Cosmo. I remember about 40 years ago I got my first flu shot while in college. It was only a few days later that I came down with the flu. I swore never again would I subject myself to that. Whatever you are doing seems to be working. Keep it up!

I haven't gotten the flu shot for years and can count on my one hand, the number of times I have been sick. Since I have increased my vitamin D, I haven't even gotten a yearly cold.

This is in spite of having a compromised system due to having sleeping issues because of my difficulties with pap therapy.

The only flu shots I have ever gotten was when the Air Force ordered everyone to get one. Haven't had one since 1977 and haven't had the flu once.

Ouch! You are going to jinx yourself! The flu season is not over.

Even when the season is over there is always some around. You can actually catch the flu any month of the year.

Hope you don't get it Cosmo!

(I always get my flu shot!)

Everyone around me dropped like flies. The height was around new years. I didn't get the useless flu shot.
There is some information being left out (intententionally?) by Cosmo.
The new report examined the flu vaccine's effectiveness in 2,697 people between Dec. 2, 2012 and Jan. 19, 2013. When considering all age groups, the vaccine was 56 percent effective, meaning it reduced the risk of a doctor's visit for flu by 56 percent.

http://www.mnn.com/health/fitness-well- ... he-elderly
If the vaccine cuts the flu down by 56% in all age groups and the young will get the vaccine, there will be less deadly flu to pass around to the elderly who are not as well protected by the shot.

Cosmo says everyone around him dropped like flies. Maybe it was like 56% of the flies. (There was also a lot of norovirus going around and uninformed people commonly call this the flu.)

Cosmo, If you get the flu I hope you are the only one that suffers and don't pass a deadly case on to an innocent person like your mother or grandmother.

I wouldn't get the flu shot if my life depended on it. The trace amounts of mercury in it build up in your brain year by year (for as long as you get the flu shot) and never go away, leading, to what a lot think, to the high rate of Alzheimers and Dementia. It's nothing but a ploy for pharmacy companies to get lots and lots of money and our gov't is involved in it too.

Got the flu shot for years, never got a mild dose with the shot either............have not even had a cold since being on the hose ( almost 3 years) I must now have the mild version that's going around, hard to breath, sore throat, etc, etc. I would not count my chickens just yet Cosmo, you can still get it even if you think you are past the onslaught. I always read that the flu season lasted until mid March...it is still February, lots of time yet my friend.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I would choose death from the flu over having my brain eaten away with Dementia, yes. Anytime you alter the human body like this, whether it be from vaccines to unnecessary tooth removal, you have altered it in a way that it was not designed for. I'm shocked that you are willing to take that chance.

My mom always refused to get the flu shot...yet she now has dementia.. So obviously I see no relation between the flu shot and dementia. I am shocked that you believe such drivel... and I do not understand what tooth removal has to do with the flu and dementia. My daughter has not had any immunization shots since she had a reaction with the very first baby one.......she is covered from getting all the terrible diseases because everyone else has had the shots and basically eradicated those diseases.
I sincerely hope that you never get the flu or dementia...as dementia is a hell of a lot worse than the flu, I would definitely prefer the flu.
