After 10 pretty awful days using a Quattro FX with my Respironics 560 having thrown the mask accross the room for two nights running at midnight and 1AM respectively (which I'm not proud of), I exchanged the FX for a Mirage Quattro. Also since it seemed that the high range on the auto machine was too high at 20, I had that lowered to 17 1/2; it was blowing through the FX.
The new mask and lowered pressure setup seems to be just the ticket judging from the last two nights of 8 and 9 hours good sleep with just two interruptions to fine tune the mask. I can't say that either change made the difference and thing the combination did it. I don't believe the lower pressure setting would have made much difference with the FX.
Mant people are very high on the Quattro FX but my head is a bit larger than most men and it always seemed that the FX eas too 'Skimpy" for hy head. It would ride up and I'd wake with the bottom of my mast over my bottom lip and with gale winds blowing. I like the head support of the Mirage Quattro and it seems to steady the mask and make a more solid fit.
It's also easier to sleep on my side than before. The air exiting is much quieter too. Funny---I used this very mask in my sleep study twop weeks ago and just hated it! But that was my first experience with any mask and it wasn't well-adjusted (like me) at that time.
I hope this report helps others. I started out as an "anti changer" thinking that I should make the FX work. Now I am
pro switch if the mask isn't working. I believe I made a good choice and thanks to the reviews on thiis wonderful site.

Re: Progress update
Good job for sticking with it.
Sometimes the best place for a mask that is problematic is just the trash can (or trash drawer) and go get something else.

Re: Progress update
Thanks, Pugsy. That exactly how I felt. Of course the next person will find opposite results than I did and in this game one size definitely does not fit all.

Don't be upset if you still have to search for a mask. I went thru about 6 different masks until I found "mine". It's a journey for sure... Sheriff
