Is it normal to feel tired in the AM after a few weeks?
I've been on CPAP now for about 3-4 weeks and I've noticed it's somewhat hard to wake up in the morning. I find myself laying in bed thinking I want more sleep.. I'm tired..
Throughout the day I feel much better though. I don't feel like I'm dead tired at 3pm.
This morning I woke up and I am like, man, I just want to go back to sleep. I just remember the first few days on it, where I woke up and I was refresed and ready to take on the day. OR is this just a "Ugh Monday Morning moment" for me... even through it's Tuesday and had a 3 day weekend.. haha
I know this weekend I woke up and I like to lay in bed a little longer to get up.. so just was asking if this is my body getting used to this or ..

What is your data showing about the effectiveness of the CPAP therapy?
Re: Feeling Tired in the AM...
Yeah, it can be normal to have a bit of difficulty waking up and starting the day feeling more alert.
Part of it may be the body finally just saying ....oh..this sleep is so nice...I want more.
Part of it may be the chance of waking up during deep or REM sleep instead of maybe light sleep...the body still is in a deeper stage of sleep and the abrupt change to wakefulness doesn't give the body a chance to finish a needed sleep cycle.
Often we see people saying "oh, I felt so good for the first few days but now I don't feel so good"...sometimes its what we call the honeymoon stage. Everything looks good on paper but how we feel is just not as good as we initially felt.
Me... I have never ever been a morning person. Using the machine is not going to transform me into something I never was in the first place.
So how many hours of sleep are you getting? Any chance of some sleep fragmentation going on?
And have you looked at your data to make sure that at least on paper things are looking good?

Re: Feeling Tired in the AM...
Well,
Last night I went to bed about 11pm. I woke up at 2 for about 20 mins cause of my daughter. Then went back to bed till 7am..
Today does seem like it's a COME ON MONDAY moment.
I'll have to check the machine.. but not sure if it's going to tell me much.

Fragmented sleep will mess with how you feel the next morning...for sure.
That 20 minute break could make an already short night even shorter and since it messes with the sleep cycles then we have a double whammy.
When evaluating your sleep...number of hours of sleep is important and if those hours are fragmented...well it just isn't optimal.
Remember that people who don't have OSA still have problems.
When we have a small child...well, sleep is just going to suffer sometimes. That's just part of the job description.
Since we have OSA we tend to want to put all the blame (or success) on the therapy when sometimes that isn't the problem.
Sometimes its just our job description that is the culprit.

That is not an overly great amount of sleep. If your sleep latency (the time it takes to fall asleep) is low, then you might have gotten 7-1/2 hours, but it wasn't uninterrupted sleep. Since you are still somewhat new to the machine, you might still have sleep debt to pay back. 8 or 9 hours for a few weeks might not be that unreasonable. When your body talks, it is OK to listen, especially when it seems to want some more sleep.
