Mask now leakig more?

Post by Lugnut » Sat Feb 16, 2013 8:42 am

I noticed that my mask (see sig) had a pretty good amount of air flow coming from those little tiny vents on the front by the nose bridge. Enough that I can feel it on my hands when my head is on my laying around my elbow area. So a good foot or so away. It's a pretty good stream of air.. I never noticed it before.

I looked at it, no cracks or anything.. but those little tiny row of vent holes..

Normal?!

Yep, normal venting.
If it is felt now to be more than it was initially...maybe you are just now noticing it more?
If you are waking in the middle of the night with it being more then maybe your machine has increased the pressure.
More pressure will mean more venting. If using the ramp feature which starts out at a lower pressure and works up to regular pressure....same thing..it will vent less at the lower ramp starting pressure.

Completely normal...I guess you'll need to change your sleeping position. Do not try to cover the holes. That is the way CO2 is discharged from the mask.

Ok cool, thank you. I cleaned the stuff and I did wake up with it at full pressure (13). So I bet that is what it is. I was hoping I didn't have to go get another mask. I like this one.

I also have found that I am sleeping more on my back then what I normally have done. Of course, sleeping on my back was a HUGE no no as I would snore and make so much noise.. let alone wake up more. It's nice to sleep on my back!

I've also noticed a few times through the night I am waking up and my mouth is closed. With a full mask I am sure it doesn't matter, I do have some nasal blockage but I hope my body isn't saying hey! NO! DON'T FIX THIS! MUST HAVE APENA! haha

I have gotten so used to the pressure that I awaken and think the machine is off, reach up and feel the air coming out the front! Huh... still running!

I've gotten used to the vent noise as well.... it bothered me for the 1st week or so, but then I slept through it..

good luck

You know... I thought about putting my machine into it's learning mode (not the real name because I can't think of it) and let it decide what pressure to use with me, just to see what it would report out... BUT with pressures higher than my current 9½, the thing makes so much whistling my wife comments

at 9½ my AHI stays mostly under 3, so I leave it alone.
