What it does (and it is a one time thing) is it assigns that SD card to that user profile.
That is good to hear "officially" as some here have posted otherwise.

I think I tried that and got the same message again. I am not sure, perhaps I have not been getting enough sleep lately

I read that too, but I wanted to double check

Thanks for the info!

Someone said "initialize" resulted in an erase SD card??? I totally missed that statement.

From the Help section of Basic.

To initialize a data card for use with a therapy device:
Insert a data card into the appropriate data card reader/writer and insert the reader/writer into the computer.
Click the Utilities icon () and select Initialize Media from the pop-up menu to display the Data Card Utilities window.
--OR--
You can select a patient from the Patient List, then click the Download from Device button and click the Initialize card tab in the Data Card Utilities window.
If the card does not contain a Philips Respironics therapy device-compatible data folder on it, a message is displayed.
A list of data cards (and other drives that may be attached to your computer) is displayed.
Select the data card you want to initialize for use in the therapy device then click the Initialize button.
If the data card is not blank a confirmation message is displayed verifying that you want to initialize the card. Note: Initialization does not erase the card.

Click Yes to confirm the initialization. When the initialization is complete, be sure to remove the data card from the reader BEFORE clicking the Finish button.
A final confirmation prompt is displayed.
Click OK to acknowledge the message. The card is now ready to use.
Click the Exit button to close the Data Card Utilities window.

When you see the message about the media not belonging to this patient what are you doing after you see it. Normally we just click on "okay" and the download proceeds and then the card is assigned. I had to see this message every time I used my SD card to help someone get their reports...Long story but they had to email me their files from their SD card and I had to put them on my SD card (had to erase my SD card first) so that I could use Basic and get their report. I only had one SD card so had to keep going back and forth and erasing his data and then putting the card back in my machine..sleeping and then downloading again to the software before erasing to put his data on it. So I probably saw the "not belong" message at least 15 times and every single time I just clicked on okay and things loaded fine. Not once did I go through the "assign" steps.

But here they are...have you tried this way to assign the card so the download will go through?

Assign Card
The Assign card function is not available from the Utilities menu. It can only be accessed starting from the Patient List.
To assign a data card to a patient:
Insert a data card into the card reader/writer and insert the reader/writer into the computer.
Select a patient from the Patient List.
Click the Download from Device button.
The Data Card Utilities window opens.
Select the Assign card tab.
Click the Assign button to assign the card.
A confirmation message is displayed.
Click the Exit button to close the window.

Do you know what Encore Basic does when you click on "rebuild indices"?
I could not load data so I tried that, wonder did it write to the card?
After that when I loaded my data into SleepyHead, lots of days were missing.

what files must the card have, to be readable in SleepyHead?
I find these in the P-Series directory:
encore.txt - seems this was put there by Encore Basic?
last.txt - where does this one come from?
