Nasal Pillows Moisture

Post by JanSaysHi » Fri Feb 01, 2013 8:26 am

Hi
I just started using the nasal pillows one week ago.
Everything is fine except that last two days I have awakened in the morning with alot of water (moisture) in the nasal pillows.
(I don't want to drown in my sleep!)
The level on the humidifier is set quite low.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks from the Nasal Pillows Newby.

Your bedroom is too cold.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Most of the time the moisture in the nasal pillows happens because of the moisture in our own exhaled breath and the cooler bedroom temps this time of year.
Even with the climateline heated hose I experience this moisture in my nasal pillows.

Solutions...increase bedroom temp....try a heated hose or hose cozy...insulate the short hose..
or just insulate the barrel of the nasal pillow (this offered me the most dramatic relief)

Padacheek makes some really nice ones. I don't know which nasal pillow you are using but her choices are shown at the link.
If you are handy you could probably make your own. I am not that handy so I just buy from Karen.
Coming up on 2 years of use with mine...I use it year round because not only does it help with the rainout in the nasal pillow....it is just so darn comfy to have silk like material up against my nostrils instead of the silicone...not that the silicone is horrible...it's just that silk like is so much nicer.

I keep my bedroom cold too and I always have some moisture in my nasal pillows. No big deal and certainly not enough to worry about.

I like a cold bedroom also. I also like LOTS of added moisture from my humidifier. If my nasal mucosa get too dry they get real mad at me and make me miserable.

So I have dealt with nasal pillow condensation for 4 winters now. While I know it won't hurt me....the cold spray going out the vent and back onto my face wakes me up...anything that wakes me up is unwanted and I will try to fix it.
Same thing with snorting a little cold water up my nose...it won't drown me but it does wake me up. So same thing...I want it prevented because I don't want to wake up multiple times due to the condensation (not just in the nasal pillows but anywhere).

So a little water won't hurt anything and if someone only notices it in the AM when they remove the mask...no big deal but if the moisture disturbs sleep in any fashion....it needs to not happen.

Oh...for the newbies here....condensation in any mask can happen even without using a humidifier at all. It's just physics...our exhaled breath contains moisture and if room temps and conditions are right....that moisture will condense and be annoying.
Also those of you who like to route your hose over your head...water can't run uphill and condensation in any mask will go right back into the nose or on the face if it happens and you like the hose going overhead.
When moisture is in a mask due to exhaled breath moisture thing....lowering the long hose or the machine or changing temp or humidifier settings is unlikely to help much when primary reason for the unwanted moisture is from your own breath.
