PHARMWOMAN: Good for you! I'm glad it worked! It worked for me for a while, then I began havin too many leaks, maybe because in order for it to fit correctly, I had to have it strapped on so tightly that it left marks. Each facial structure is different. I DID like that mask though. Continued good luck to you.

DLL - As an asthma sufferer, I think you might be interested in the book
"Every Breath You Take" which is aimed at improving asthma conditions. I got it to help to learn to nose breathe for better health.........my health can use any improvement I can find....................

Just a thought

Thanks for the info...and Ellen, I will look for that book. "Every Breath You
Take".

The only place I have been since I was diagnosed with asthma... and could
breathe normally was Crescent City, CA. Right on the ocean. Cool breeze
all the time...about 40 knots...and the air was freshened by a nice spring
rain...usually rained sideways. But I enjoyed it. The wife got claustraphobic,
but I only had one mild attack in ten days and even quit most of my meds
by the second or third day. That was last year.

Better days ahead I hope.......take care.....Dave

actually there are days that I have silly looking marks on my face, and occassionaly I fling it off, but I do consider it a success for the most part:)
I do miss my breeze tho:)

Pharmwoman,
I am a little confused, which mask do you fling off? Your FF mask, the HC431A
or a nose mask?

My other mask is a new HC431A and if it were not for another problem caused
by my asthma, it would be ok. I am NOT trying to see how many masks I can
accumuate, just find the right one.

Funny thing happening today. My eyes have been burning since about 3pm.
Sort of like I am sleepy and need to take a nap. I never nap in the day time,
but my system is ready.

I should get my heated humidifier tomorrow. That will help with my sore throats.

I occassionally fling off my FF mask--it just happens--there are nites I dont like it but it is doing the job for the most part--I never threw off my breeze---but I will say my nostrils were very sore and I dont miss that. By the way, I have asthma as well---
Best of luck to you.

Pharmwoman,
Thanks for the asthma comment too. I had a lot of perfect years healthwise,
so I don't want to gripe too much. It really could be worse.

I got up at about 3:30am and forgot about the mask. I didn't break it, but
it got my attention. We turned the "beeper" off so it won't wake my wife up
if I get up. That helps too. I guess it is a lot of "fine tuning".

I have slept more the last two nights than I did for the previous week. So I
give thanks to the Auto Bipap people and you guys. A machine is just a machine without an understanding of how it works and so on.

The DME is here for a couple hours and leaves, but you guys help all the time.

Thank You...

IT'S GREAT! ISN'T IT?

Glad to hear things are going better for you, Dave.

Yes-it hides my nose.

Seriously. Yes-because it works for me. I was going to get a FF mask to have on hand for when I got my 3-4 month long spring stuffy nose. It hasn't happened. I'm assuming the filtered heated humidified air during the night compensates for breathing pollen during the day. I'll wait till cold season now to get the FF mask.
My sleep doc has a preference for the nasal route-someone pointed out that breathing through the nose is the "natural" way to breath and the nasal route makes your palate/nasopharynx/and throat function the way it is supposed to.

I have been a hosenose now for about 3 years. I started out with a nasal mask, then went to a FF because of mouth breathing. I was never able to get the FF to work as I have a recessed lower jaw, and the seal would break as soon as I completely relaxed. Someone on this forum said that they taped their mouth shut with Johnson and Johnson 1 inch waterproof tape. So, off to WalMart I went to get some tape. I have been placing three pieces of tape across my mouth horizonally, then applying two chin straps, and finaly the mask. I also take two tylenol PM tablets, and I am able to get about 6 hours sleep. At the end of six hours I do the wakeup, go to sleep, wake up, go to sleep routine for about an hour. I have only had a few bad sandman attacks in the afternoon, but very much improved. My main concern is how am I going to do all of this if I live to be an old man??

I am a breeze lover too. The main reason I prefer the nasal pillows is that I had a problem sleeping on my side with any mask (nasal or full face). The pressure on my face would change the shape slightly, and I would get a leak. My breeze even allows me to sleep on my stomache.

I also like my Mirage Swift...but my wife says it is either leaking or I am pulling
it away from my face when I sleep on my side.

Maybe I need to lay on my side, then tighten it?

Sleeping on my side is much better than sleeping on my back...more comfortable that is. I am not sure how I could lay on my stomach and
get the mask, etc. to line up right. I will try it this afternoon, but don't hold
out much hope.
