Same here. I haven't followed all the threads, but assumed he pissed someone off somewhere. But I never saw it. Even if he did, I don't think this thread is the way to deal with it. A whole lot of people piss me off on a daily basis (even sometimes on this forum!!). But what do I know?nanwilson wrote:Would anyone care to explain this thread......did someone piss in someone's corn flakes this morning???? I'm just sitting here with a puzzled look on my face.

I agree, I think Cosmo is an excellent poster to the forum. He does come across as someone who believes: "the person with the most cpap toys wins". I'm a gizmo geek myself so it's probably just my jealousy showing... You go Cosmo!

Thank you Nan! You have summed up this thread for me with your usual wisdom and humor (though I will never look at corn flakes quite the same again ).

I agree that if you have a problem with someone, starting a thread like this is not the best way to handle it.
In my opinion, Al N, did a great job of stating the situation in this post.

By the way, Al, I don't mean to drag you into this but I was really struck by how you stated the issues with Cosmo in a very diplomatic manner while commenting on his positive traits.
I hope that clarifies things. Obviously, with the diverse group of forum members, everyone's take is going to be different.

My Idaho: "as someone who believes: "the person with the most cpap toys wins". I'm a gizmo geek myself "
As someone who has bought all sorts of cpap stuff, i'd say it is more desperation than fun with toys - it isn't working for me and i'm getting zero help from the medical community. What are our options? Keep doing the same thing over and over again and hope/pray for a different outcome? Most of the stuff i've tried has been utterly useless but others have made a huge difference - in comfort and thus being able to use it through the night if not being a cure - in my case getting a vpap machine where i could lower the exhalation pressure allowed me to finally get some sleep when previously i had been up all night and maybe getting 2 to 3 hours of sleep at most on my originally prescribed apap machine ( on the other hand an apap/bipap machine was no help at all). I've also been through about a dozen masks and i'm finally happy with my fx mirage nasal mask but i STILL need a "good? - does it exist" ffm mask for when i get a cold or my nose is congested. And with all this, i'm still averaging an ahi of around 10. I wish my first machine and mask let me sleep through the night ( or just a couple of wake ups) with an ahi below 5, if so I wouldn't have tried anything more.

Re: Who is getting sick of this space cadet named Cosmo?
Please, no offense was intended. I understand circumstances are dramatically different between each of us and there is not a single solution that fits all. I enjoy reading Cosmo's experiences with his new acquisitions. I was just playfully tweaking Cosmo and am very sure that he would not take any offense.johnthomasmacdonald wrote:My Idaho: "as someone who believes: "the person with the most cpap toys wins". Re: Who is getting sick of this space cadet named Cosmo?
Thank you for the kind words though I don't think I deserve them. If I hadn't been rude to start with they wouldn't have been said. I would hate to loose Cosmo though he has a lot to offer. And as for the toys had I the resources right now I'd definitely have an excess lol trial and error. My wife can't believe her eyes sometimes when she comes in the room and sees some of the diferent things I'm trying to make since we can't afford to buy them now. Anyway hope Cosmo sticks around49er wrote:Hi Madalot,Madalot wrote:Same here. I haven't followed all the threads, but assumed he pissed someone off somewhere. But I never saw it. Re: Who is getting sick of this space cadet named Cosmo?
I have moderated a fishing forum for 10 years now and posters like cosmo are like a family pet that almost everybody likes except for the ones that get bit. Was reading the DME harassment thread and cosmo was doing some nipping, not alot of patience for newbys trying to find their way, so easy to be an internet bully. I myself have been using a CPAP for about 7 years and I was one of the ones that just put it on all night right away. When I went in after the first month and they checked the usage on the machine and saw the average was 7 hours a night they were surprised. Just means I was lucky, not better than anybody else. Just hate it when some act superior instead of helpful.
Re: Who is getting sick of this space cadet named Cosmo?
Thanks to all for not letting the trolls throw the forum off its course.
To the trolls, I have peace in my life and I can sleep at night

I've been compliant since day 1. First days were leaky leaky but I stuck with it.

This was typical life before, trying anything to deal with fatigue.

You nailed it buddy. Since learning that a sleep disorder was behind my fatigue, I took the diagnoses seriously and didn't waver from treatment. I have bought many things to aid in treatment, comfort and self analysis. I've shared tips I found along the way, some saw that as gloating and showing off. If I didn't share, what good would that have done to the sleep apnea community. MyIdaho, I did not take offense.johnthomasmacdonald wrote:

I am a very controversial figure because I wash my air tube and use a device to aid in the drying process. A lot of people felt it was their civic duty to berate myself and others for cleaning and finding ways of drying off our hoses more quickly. They came into the thread to belittled us for sharing our tips. They threw their senior member status around as if one were needed to kiss their ring. I will stick up for myself. Respect is earned, not given.

Re: Who is getting sick of this space cadet named Cosmo?
Thanks for catching me up, Cosmo. The hose drying argument isn't one I care to get involved with. Unless it has the potential to really hurt someone, I try really hard to stay out of the disagreements that should be left "to each his own" --
I don't know whether I qualify as a "senior member" of the forum, but regardless - I think I'll sit this one out.
