Hair damage help!

I do a french braid. I have for many years, long before cpap, as I tend to get bad tangles if I sleep on it with it loose. When I started cpap, it didn't affect anything since it left my head basically smooth, so it works well for me.

Try the Pilairo Mask made by Fisher Paykel. It only has one strap that should leave your hair alone.

What brand of nasal pillows did you try? (the disaster)
Some brands are easier to tolerate, depending on the individual.

I use a "BUFF"...and actually if I have used hairspray the day before.... my hair bounces right back, better than no "BUFF"...I think it is because the straps are not digging right into the hair, the "BUFF" protects it. Also the chin strap causes some moisture (sweat) to go right into your hair. Hope this helps!

I second this, my favorite feature of the Piliaro is the ease of use with my hair. I have long silky hair & it tangles easily. I can't braid it at night, that seems to make my tangles worse, but with the Piliaro strap underneath my hair there is no breakage and in the am NO LINE across the back of my head. The Piliaro sells for around $88 at cpap.com. I know you may need to invest a little of your own money, but I pay more than that at the hairdressers getting my cut and my 'ahem' roots done. The Piliaro is technically a nasal pillow mask, but it is different from any other nasal pillows I have tried. It has a 'balloon' like feature that blows up that helps keep the mask on. Worth a try.

Some good hair protectors:

1. Skull caps, lightweight wicking types like used under football helmets - http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/m ... skull-caps I found them at TJ Maxx cheap.

I think I will switch from skull cap to Buff as soon as I find a discount source. These are also lightweight wickers.

The Oracle oral mask can be used with no strap at all by many people, but it's hard to adjust to and has some drawbacks because it's a mouth only mask.

I'll look into all these options. I have way too much/too long hair to just let it flow around. It'd be everywhere.
