what are good numbers?

Post by njy » Wed May 10, 2006 6:47 pm

I just went today and had my card read at the DME. I am still exhausted and trying to figure out what is up. Can't get in to the sleep Dr until June 7. I know I have seen a discussion of what numbers you should aim for but can't seem to locate it tonight when I need it.

Thanks much
NJY

Anything under 5. I like to be under 3. What is most important is how do you feel? This is more important than the numbers. There is other data to look at than your AHI. How is your leaks? I see you have been a member since Jan....you might have rem rebound. Good Luck and I hope you start feeling better soon. good thing you have a machine to check your progress
th

REM Rebound is when your body is sleep deprived and wants to stay in REM sleep for as long as it can. This is the same situation that Narcoleptic's go through. It can be exhausting. it usually passes within a month to 6 week period. This is normal.

NJY,

Did your DME give you a copy of the report, including ALL of the details?

The suprise would be finding a Dr. or DME that could read the full data on the card, not just compliance data. Some of them probably can't figure that out even. Jim

Yep, the DME gave me the printout with not just the usage data, but the OA, H, S and AHI numbers, as well as leak info. The summary trend report list these averages:
OAI 3.6
AHI 5.6
Snore index 3.9
Average max leak 102.5
Average 90% leak 52.4
Average leak 43.6
Average large leak 11.6 sec

my numbers for last night were:
CPAP 14
OA:2.8
H: 1.7
S: 1.6
AHI: 4.5
no large leaks
Average leak 40.53

What ya think?

Still taking naps. PLUS since sleeping on my back and point my feet, I am developing heelspurs!!
