what can i do??

Post by guestimate » Wed Dec 26, 2012 6:24 am

Hi im a new user/poster. I have been on cpap for 11 yrs now. i have a f/p 200 series machine. About 8 yrs ago i had a bad flu and needed to clear my nose to sleep at night (obviously) (lol). I tried a nasal spray called logicin and it worked. Since then i have had to use it every night so i can sleep without my nose blocking up. I have tried other products so i can stop the logicin but nothing has worked. recently the logicin seems to work after two or three applications during the night. I have seen my doctor and he says my nasal passages are very narrow. He prescribed Nasonex but this doesnt work either. Any ideas anyone?? I have my name on the extremly long waiting list at the Royal Adelaide hospital ENT clinic. Dont have a date yet Anyone Help??? Cheers

Ask the pharmacist about nasal rinses, and for help getting off the logicin. More and more people are using the rinses now (saline solutions) and they apparently work very well.

Logicin (oxymetazoline hydrochloride) addiction occurs after about a week, sounds like you're REALLY hooked, so you're gonna have to fix that first.

It seems that with nasal issues you should try a full face mask. At least have one on standby for flare ups. Sheriff

WIthdrawal is not a walk in the park.
Your doctor may be able to help, but the important thing is to start.

The bottle says to not use it more than 5 days in a row.

Now you're addicted. You'll have to figure out how to withdraw. It will be unpleasant.

Many of these kinds of nasal sprays irritate the lining of your nose after a while. You have to use more of the spray to make the swelling go down. Eventually, it doesn't work at all.

You've got to get off the logicin first. You may have to use a full face mask until you can breathe through your nose again.

Hi. Thank to all who replied. It seems I will have to get a full face mask to enable me to get off the logicin. I will be seeing my cpap supplier as soon as they open after the new year break. HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone. Cheers

Maybe.. if no contraindications to taking it and also in conjunction with other ideas after discussing with physician.
I have had to do the withdrawal thing (Afrin) myself and sudafed alone won't do it and I wasn't addicted for years (was just a few months).

I feel your pain, I was a user of Afrin for over 20 years and just decided that I have had enough. So far so good, I found a good saline spray with moisturizer and have my humidifier turned all the way up and it hasn't been to bad. I'm on my 4th night with out it which I cant believe since in the past I couldn't make it a day. Hang in there you can do it.
