Newbie!

Post by SusieG » Sun Dec 30, 2012 3:48 pm

Just started on CPAP 3 nights ago and am feeling the difference already. I checked out this site a few weeks ago and was very impressed with everyone give newbies help and all of the othere info... answers and ideas for every issue and problem. Thanks, peeps, for making this transition easier!

Hi Susie..and WELCOME - you need to learn and memorize the most important phrase to successfully deal with sleep apnea: " PUGSY!!!!!............HELP!!!!!!" That pretty much sums it up, everything else here is mainly social and commentary

OK... Pugsy - Got it!
One question - How do you all feel about mask liners? I am already feeling some irritation to my skin around my mouth and wonder if they will help. I also need to use moisturizer every day and don't want to have to completly clean the mask every day.... and... how do you feel about mask wipes?

Lots of folks use the padacheek liners. They are comfortable. I use Cpap wipes and Pamper Thick Wipes for Sensitive Skin. You can also the generic brand. Make sure whatever you get that the wipes don't contain alcohol or aloe. Alcohol will deteriorate the mask and aloe will leave a film. I wipe my mask every morning with a wipe and on weekends I scrub my mask and soak in baby shampoo. Everyone has their own routine and method of cleanliness.

Tsk,Tsk, John, not to take anything away from Pugsy, she's been crowned our Queen, rightly so, and my mentor too, but there are many others who also give invaluable help here. I learn something from them every day. Now say you're sorry!

+1 on pad a cheek liners

They work like a gasket and help prevent leaks. soft on your face, washable, easy to clean & last for months.

I've 2 in use for the past 3 months now. I swap them every 4 days , on my cleaning day.

As another newbie, I'd have to agree. Pugsy is great, but she's not the only one. There are many excellent folks here who help out.

Welcome, Susie!
