resmed machine NOISES?

Post by Thetoolman » Tue Oct 23, 2012 2:29 pm

Last night my machine theres. vpap s atartem aking noises , I figgured I would ask about them before I started lookin for what it is,
#1 when I exhale the leakin air sound has trippled. It is really loud by far from before.
#2 sometimes the machine has small whistle when I exhale
If I take a really fast deep breath I can hear a clicking sound from the machine. I reached over and put my hand on the hi5 lid but it made no differance
If you have had this and can direct me to a starting place to fix it I would be grateful.
These noises are comming from the machine not the hose or mask

The clicking noises have been mentioned by others but I don't think anyone came to any conclusion as to the cause...much less a fix.
Consensus was from the humidifier area but I haven't read where anyone found out exactly what or why.

The exhale sounds...lots of discussion here about what some people refer to as a "cooing" or bird call sound.
I don't know if that is what you are hearing or not. Try exhaling with a lot of force and then with minimal force to see if it makes a difference. It seems to be more pronounce for some people and not others. I can hear something very faintly with my S9 on exhale but it doesn't bother me and I have never heard the clicking noise.

If it keeps you awake...talk to your machine supplier about it.

I'm using PR equipment and initially I thought my machine was making a racket. After a few weeks I just desensitized to the operation of the CPAP. Of course, it's possible your machine has blown a bearing, but I doubt it, especially if it's new. Do you have a white noise machine? Maybe tune a radio to a white noise frequency? Turn on a fan? Also, ear plugs are popular with some users. I doubt you'll have to do that for very long cuz all machines make some noise and after awhile you'll simply get used to it. Consider it the sound of your life being saved. Seriously. Let us know what works for you

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Both of our machines are rated at 24 db. Trust me, it gets barely noticeable in no time at all.
If your machine can be seen from your pillow, I suggest you lower it a bit,
so the edge of the bed will deflect or absorb sound.
You could also run a small fan in the bedroom so the differences in tone will be less noticeable.
This awareness of machine sound is common with new pappers.
Give yourself time, and don't beat yourself up about being a worry wart. It's OK.

Oh, waIt, this machine just up and started making the noises--after several months of making nice?
Sounds like something is loose, broken, or needs a service call. my bad.

Sudden onset weird noises...I totally missed that part.
Take it back to the machine supplier. It's under warranty. You shouldn't be expected to fix it.

Did anyone ever find a fix for this. Mine is doing the same thing. This is my second one in 2 months both make a whistling noise on exhale after the ramp. This is literally driving me insane. Just when I start to get asleep, here comes the train... Not really helping my apnea if I can't get to sleep from the noise...

The whistling on exhale is a known issue. Do a search and you'll find several posts on the sound.
