Sleep study results

Post by jujubee » Sun Dec 16, 2012 9:38 am

Hi, I posted as a guest a few weeks back under the name Maddistar but am registered now as jujubee. The letter I wrote to my Dr. requesting an APAP prescription was never received. Dr's nurse said to take it up with DME when they call to make my appt. That was 12/11. Still have not had a call from DME one week later. I will call Dr. office tomorrow and fax my letter and try again to get the prescription changed.
I also requested full sleep study report w/ summary graphs and copy of the script. I received only the summery and script for CPAP w/ heated humidifier w/ a setting of 6cm. Diagnosis: Moderate OSA & Nocturnal Hypoxemia.
Pre-CPAP Data: REM sleep 12.5% of sleep time. 41 arousals & 19 awakenings w/ arousal/awakening index of 20.5/hr. 7 central apneas, 19 obstructive, 42 hypopneas. Apnea-hypopnea index 23.6/hr. mean oxygen sat. 92% lowest recorded 64%. 15.4 min w/ saturation below 88%. 6 periodic limb movements. No arrhythmias rec.
CPAP Titration: REM sleep 43.5%. Sleep efficiency 90.4%. 10 arousals 10 awakenings w/ arousal index 7.3/hr. CPAP started a 5, increased to 6 due to obst. events & snoring. At optimal setting AHI was 3.4, arousal index 9.4/hr. 0% os sleep time with saturation less than 90%. No limb movements or arrhythmias recorded.
Is 7 central apneas worrisome? I'm a bit nervous but anxious to see if CPAP will help me feel better. Thank you so much for your encouraging words and helpful info here. I know I will have questions and concerns. jujubee

Not when spread out over several hours of sleep.
Now if you start seeing 7 per hour on your cpap reports..then we start worrying.
I have nights where I have zero centrals all night and I have nights where I might have 15 to 20 over 8 hours. It can vary and a few centrals are normal and no big deal.

Thanks Puggsy! In reading the posts here I have seen people say: send a private message. How is that done?

Easiest way is to just click on the little PM button at the bottom of the area where avatars are shown. Look on the left of my post here and you will see a little box with PM on it.
When you do it via the post here you will get a copy of the post showing up as well as subject being the subject of the thread...you can then edit all that out if you want to and start fresh.

Other way is to click on someones Profile..and then you will see "send a private message" available in the profile.
Then you compose your message.
