I just listened to that segment again because I certainly didn't recall this having anything to do with the topic.
Dr. Krakow was talking about the advantages of ASV devices for people who had difficulties tolerating cpap and bipap machines.

I am a longtime APAP user and snow skier. I spend a week at Breckenridge (9500 ft altitude) during the winter and experience significantly higher AHIs (normally 2-3) in the 80-100 range. The increase is almost entirely caused by an increase in centrals. Several studies have documented this phenomena and have suggested supplemental oxygen or medication as mitigation. My S9 Autoset seems to handle the issue just fine. I do not notice frequent pressure changes and my obstructive events don't seem to increase much.
