Nasal pillows without prescription?

Post by Geminidream » Wed Dec 12, 2012 9:49 am

Hello all,

I have not logged into this site for a long time, mainly because I have been working full time and going to school full time for the last (nearly) 3 years. Oddly enough, that is when I got my official diagnosis of moderate OSA(although it sure felt like severe OSA to me.) In June, I lost my job of 5 years and of course the insurance that paid for my supplies. I have been very careful with my equipment, but I am in need of replacement Swift FX nasal pillows, Medium size. I have gotten Large and Small nasal pillows every time I ordered a replacement prior to losing my insurance so I have some pillows to get rid of if anyone is interested. I can't seem to find any way to buy just the nasal pillows without the prescription. At this point I do not have a regular doctor or money for anything extra and I'm sure that if I went "through the system" to get assisted health care, I would be waiting quite a while for an appointment and then I'm sure I would be put through a bunch of tests that I don't need just to get to this issue. I just need the nasal pillows...everything else is in good shape and I check my readings regularly and have successful treatment 90% of the time. If anyone has any ideas or wants to exchange nasal pillows message me privately. I also have two Medium and one Large nasal pillow (unused, of course) from the Swift LT headgear that I tried first and did not like. Thanks in advance for any help!

Melissa

You need to post what you have to trade and what you want in the Great Pillow Exchange thread. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=36070&p=768436&hili ... ge#p768436

You could try buying replacement pillows on eBay. They are readily available and competitively priced, and sometimes you can get good deals. I once purchased three replacement cushions for my Mirage Activa for $25 total.

Replacement mask supplies don't require a RX. It is only the whole mask package setup that requires the RX.
You can buy replacement nasal pillows from cpap.com.
Also as someone mentioned you can buy nasal pillows on EBay. I have got some great deals there.
Mediums do seem to be the most sought after though...so maybe not steal of a deal but still a fair price.

Online they run around $25.
I see that cpap.com has them for $22.00 https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... illow.html
Sometimes if you hang around in the checkout section a little pop up window will offer free shipping.

Sounds much too dangerous to let someone get a nasal pillow without a prescription - what would happen if kids got their hands on them?

Bite off the pillows and choke on them?

I would think that age group would be too young to buy anything online, but you never know, the way kids are using technology these days.

Kids would try to get a buzz or high out of them like they do with cough meds.

Others would try to make meth out of them like with those pseudoephedrine meds they keep locked up now.

Think about the children.

Good thing that is not an issue...no children in the home

Thank you for the helpful responses.....for some reason I thought a prescription was needed for the pillows. The price on cpap.com is reasonable considering they last quite a while

I had forgotten this, despite purchasing replacement mask cushions on cpap.com myself. Brick-and-mortar DME's may require a prescription for any CPAP supplies including filters and hoses although legally a prescription is only required for machines, humidifiers, and complete masks.

I've tried all these resources, namely trading or buying on CPAPtalk, Ebay and Craigslist... and haven't regretted any of them so far. The only thing with Craigslist is to be very careful and try to buy the items in person. I almost got burned on Craigslist, but if you hang out here long enough you learn how to spot a fraud.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
