Ok, I only thought there was the 1 video so my fault.

Nevertheless, I've shelved the Melatonin and am now taking generic Ambien.

If I thought I had in any part in that, my conscience would be terribly guilty.

Goodbye.

No you didn't directly. Although the talk of Melatonin being in a negative light recently got me thinking. My main reason for a "Sleep Aid" is that I am trying to step down from the "Benzo's" as I had been on xanax for several years in part to my insomnia and other part to my anxiety. I am now on a stepped down dose of Clonazepam. So I still needed something to take the edge off when it's bedtime so the insomnia didn't creep back in although admittedly, since starting xPAP, that in itself has proven a bit of a "cure" for my insomnia at night but I just can't chance laying in bed not being able to get to sleep with my work schedule so enter the switch between the Melatonin supplements to the seemingly more recognized and approved "Ambien".

With that said, I have read up on the Ambien rather extensively and do note the negative reactions by "some" as in any drug, however, with that said, I had been prescribed the regular Ambien some years ago for my insomnia and do remember it working rather well in my case as is now with the "generic". Long term, I do hope I don't become reliant on it but I also need something to help with the benzo decrease/withdrawal bit and again, can't afford to miss any sleep as that has seemed to become the center point in many of my more recent problems both mentally and physically as I'm sure many xpapper's can agree due to our condition.

Do what you have to do.

It sounds like you have a long term plan for further improvement. Best of luck with it.

I use it almost daily to maintain sleep. I found a version at my local Rx that has time release version. It's wonderful. The only problem I have is when either I take too much or do not get 7-8 hours of daytime sleep (I work nites).

There were two major points in the video and one of them was correct dosage. What dosage do you take?

Just wanted to add, I'm not trying to be hard-headed or controversial about the topic. I've just endured a lot of different angles of information over the years regarding this supplement. All others used to point to it being completely harmless and even beneficial, now there seems to be a different angle.

And I hate prescription drugs with a passion and not thrilled at all to be on the ambein.

All I want to accomplish is good sound sleep and without feeling like I need to lay in bed for 12 hours.

Again, post xpap, my problems in the above regard have diminished considerably.

I'm open to all communication on the topic and yes, very interested.

I will go back and watch the 3 additional videos I missed as my impression of watching apparently only the 1st segment seemed to just stress on it being bad to wake up during the night and plop down more Melatonin in an effort to stay sleeping of which I have never done personally.

Thanks for all the input.

After you watch them see if you agree with what I wrote earlier ->
... someone of your age (45 according to your profile) should never be taking melatonin supplements except temporarily in the case of jet lag or rescheduled work shifts.

Numerous research studies seem to suggest that melatonin should be used only temporarily, at a low dose generally, and probably for few ailments. Chronic insomnia appears to be excluded, for instance. The substance was reported to release certain stress hormones, induce inflammation in some medical conditions, restrict the blood circulation, hamper with the metabolism, lead to higher mortality, etc. (review Tryptophan Side Effects: L-Tryptophan Is Far From Harmless).

Not Rolf!

I think you have very much confused tryptophan for melatonin.

These are two very different substances.

Maybe you want to edit your post?
