Menu options Remstar Auto questions
Hello all,
What is the difference with APAP, AFLE, CPAP, and CFLE ?
FLE seems to turn on the Cflex. My machine has words insted of icons on the screen.
Also under CFLEX, I can change 1 or 2 or 3. What is the difference?
The Humidifier does not get the water hot, just barely barely warm. Is this normal? The water never gets cold from evaporation though.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Bill Jensen

You havee it right, FLE means the CFLEX is enabled. So it's CPAP with or without, APAP with or without. I think there are various opinions on this but I think that the CFLEX adjustment is not a specific measure of change between inhale and exhale pressures but 1 is a small change , 2 is more change and 3 is most change. Myself, I have my auto set 10 to 14, my titration was 12. I have the machine set AFLE, CFLEX set 1. I found that large pressure swings which could be made to happen with broad range settings disturbed my sleep.
The humidifier does not get hot, just warm.

RE: Menu options Remstar Auto questions
wdjensen123, first of all, welcome aboard.
This is a wonderful site where almost any of your questions can be answered by long-term and caring members.
There is a very powerful "search" option at the top of the screen, and I strongly recommend trying it out. It will take you to multiple discussions of the topic you enter.
Having said that, here are a few tidbits from that search that may get you started:
"The Respironics REMstar Auto with C-Flex has four operating modes you (or the person who sets the machine up for you) can choose:
CPAP - straight cpap, no C-Flex
CFLE - straight cpap, with C-Flex
APAP - autopap, no C-Flex
AFLE - autopap, with C-Fllex"
The higher the C-Flex number, the more exhalation "relief' is provided. '2' is the recommended setting to start out with.
"Here are the instructions provided for changing the setting (a higher number equates to more humidity):
"The ideal humidity setting depends on room temperature and humidity. Initially a setting of 2 is recommended.
You can adjust this setting at any time. Press and hold the humidifier button on the CPAP device. The humidifier symbol and setting will appear. Press the humidifier or ramp buttons to change the setting."
I also preheat the water by turning on the humidifier while I brush my teeth, etc. It will turn off after 20 minutes unless the air flow is turned on."
Remstar Manual:
http://manuals.dev.respironics.com/serv ... es_4.0.pdf
"Here's another "tip" on downloading those files......some are HUGE (like the one at the top for the Auto).
Do a right-click on the .pdf file you want to download and tell it to save it to your hard drive. When "left-clicking" and letting it go into Adobe Reader (and then saving the file), it may hang up somewhere.....did for me a couple of times till I used the direct download option."
Other Manuals:

Good luck.

Dear xPAP users,
Thank you for the tips and information !
I reset the Humidifier temperature from 1 to 5 and now it does get warm. I thought it might be broken. I will start at 2.
Amigo, the first manual link was a real good one that explained the things I needed to know. My Remstar Auto did not come with manuals. I also have a user manual now. The other links did not work for me. I wonder what that information would bring.
I am and Engineer (consultant) and a bit of an inventor. As I read stuff on this forum, it gives me ideas for improvements.
Thank you all for your help.
Sincerely,
Bill Jensen

I was just about to say the same thing. I'm kind of surprised that the first one still works.
