I vehemently disagree with this. I started with a nasal mask, then switched to nasal pillows. My AHI during the titration study with the nasal mask was zero, but I was never able to get that low at home - probably between 2 and 3. Since using the pillows, particularly the Aloha, my AHI has come down to very slightly over 1 or less (untreated, 31). I have completely failed with full face masks, but that is probably because I have a beard. I have a FitLife mask on order from Sears which will be the final test. The only thing I can see wrong with my treatment, though, is that I may need a variable pressure during the night for when I roll onto my back. So, it is nonsense to say that nasal pillow masks ruin OSA treatment.

If you can breathe through your nose, get the right size pillows and adjust them correctly, nasal pillows are the EASIEST mask to use because of the small contact area. Not suitable if you mainly breathe through your mouth, have a deviated septum, or severe sinus congestion, but otherwise an excellent choice for those who can use them.

Avi, please don't make general broad statements like this based on your own particular experience. Others may well experience the same mask differently.
