Lansinoh Question

Post by Starlette » Thu Nov 15, 2012 3:53 pm

Happy Thursday everyone.

One of those questions I've been meaning to ask for a long time:

When I'm ready to put some Lansinoh (aka. nipple cream) in my nose at night, it is very hard for me to squeeze some out of the tube.
What are you doing to make it more pliable/soft to come out of the tube? I feel like I have to have the strength/hands of a man to get it out.

That's odd, I don't have any problem squeezing some out of the tube. I wonder if you maybe got an older batch that's hardened up or something?

Edited to add: The more I think about it, it does seem like I have to squeeze pretty hard. But I'm only looking to get a teensy bit, maybe that's why it seems like it's easy to squeeze. Sorry, I'm no help!

Mine is pretty hard in the tube. You only need a very small amount. I would hold it in your hand to warm it up.

Make sure the cap is on tight and then hold it under hot water for about 30 seconds. That should help - only to do again the next night.

It's pretty weird... sometimes it's easy to squeeze and other times it's hard. At first I just thought it was just related to the ambient room temperature, but now I don't think so. Maybe it's similar to that goo seeping out of the jars stored in the creepy mothership in the recent Prometheus movie? Just hope alien babies don't start popping out everywhere.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

It's heat/warmth related. At 80° it comes out nice. Now since it's colder it's thicker. I usually warm it up a bit in my hands and it's a lot easier to squeeze.

If you can squeeze a tiny bit onto your palm of your hand then rub it in your palm till it softens then rub it on your nose it goes on alot better and thinner, mine is hell to get out also, I have to really lean on the tube to get any out. I always rub it in my hand before applying. Good luck!

i find mine is not coming out of the tube now either, since it got colder here in the Panhandle of FL in the past few weeks. I put mine on the inside of my nose with a Q-tip, so I just squeeze enough up thru the lid that when I put a new Q-tip thru the hole, I can get some on the Q-tip to apply to each nostril, just on the inside of the nose.

You might consider finding a small wide mouth jar with a tight lid and put all the cream into it. You could cut the bottom of the tube off to squeeze the cream into the jar, and microwave the rest to soften it up and pour into the jar. Then just rub your finger tip over the top of the cream in the jar to apply it to your nose.

The stuff is so hard to get out of a tube I wonder why they don't sell it in a small jar in the first place, or a push up tube like a chapstick.

Hello all, newbie here. Can someone please explain how to use this cream? I have been getting sores on the inside (rim) of my nostrils. I cannot use my CPAP until the sores have healed or they just get worse - which I'm sure you all know. Anyway - do I just rub it around the inside of my nostrils? Thanks

If you don't like the tube check with your pharmacist. Lanolin is used by compounding pharmacists for prescription ointments and they may have it available in bulk. It shouldn't require a prescription to sell you a small jar.

Yes, just rub a little around your nostril and inside the nostril. Doesn't take much.
Use it several times during the day too.
If you are getting sores in your nostrils from nasal pillows...either you are using the wrong size nasal pillow or you have it way too tight. Anything more than very minor tenderness points to either ill fitting (wrong size) or too tight with the straps.

Pugsy, what would you say is a good guideline for sizing nasal pillows?
