How much is it worth?

Post by Dazzles » Sun Nov 11, 2012 3:54 pm

Hi there!

I was a noob here quite awhile ago. Did *NOT* take to CPAP.

I didn't accept that mild apnea was the reason behind all my health issues.

As it turned out, I was right (though it may turn out different for you).

It turned out that I had thyroid issues. Follow-up sleep laps where I didn't have tubing and wires wrapped near or around my neck and I was allowed to sleep on my side turned out just fine. My issues were most likely the large nodules on my Thyroid.

ANYHOW -- to the point. I now own a ResMed S9 w/ humidifier and a some accessories and I am looking to sell them. I have no idea how to price the items and I am looking for advice. I in no way want to gouge people who are feeling ill as I am definitely sympathetic to that situation.

ResMed S9 w/ humidifier and carrying case and the heated tube. (has just enough uses for the first month's compliance)
Swift FX mask with Small and XS nose pieces (pink and gray straps and mask covers) (two uses)
The hose stand from the CPAP.com (https://www.cpap.com/productpage/HoseBu ... ystem.html)
Hose cover with zipper from CPAP.com (https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -wrap.html)
Hose Cover that is felt and green. Ordered from a nice lady on Etsy.
Ladybug Mask Covers (side straps). Ordered on Etsy as well. I used these to cover the small hose on the mask.
Cherry Pur-Sleep Aromatherapy oils (the normal size, not the huge one)
Pur-Sleep diffuser tray and some of the pads.

What do you guys think? Obviously I'd want to do it cash-only as the internet is a scary place. How much is appropriate?

Not sure about selling prices (more knowledgeable people here) but I'm curious to know what was the outcome of the thyroid nodules?

We are "watching" them right now.

Taking thyroid hormone replacement and trying to avoid autoimmune attacks.

I feel a lot better, but still bad

I wonder about the legality of selling prescription medical equipment.

Fortunately, it's not quite the same as reselling RX narcotics.
Used machines are the last refuge for the poor and underinsured.
There is a gap between those with good insurance and those on Medicaid--a huge gap.
You can't harm someone with a cpap like you could with resold pharmaceuticals.

What do you wonder LinkC?
I am curious about how this would be a worry for you?

You'll be lucky to get $400 for the lot. I've bought a similar package on Craigslist for $300. (I'm not looking to buy right now.)

Lots of people list machines on CL for a much higher percentage of their original price. I don't know how much success they have selling them, but I've bought a few machines on CL after they were listed for a fairly long time, and I think everyone I talked to hadn't gotten any other offers.

"Worry" is your term. I merely wonder.

Not here. You see that set up with people wanting over $1000 and not willing to bargain.

You'll see that around here, too. I get the impression they don't have much luck selling them, however, I never bothered to call any of the people wanting a high price.

I think it would be helpful to list the sizes of your equipment and possibly take the highest bids within a certain time frame (i.e. 6 hours or a day). But are you certain you won't be needing it all - have you been retested?

Dazzles,

Have you made it through your compliance period? If not, the DMA/insurance company may request the machine back.

Just sayin,

I don't understand how a sleep test with no wires can tell you that your OSA is gone.

Secondwind CPAP charges $549 for a machine with humidifier and ClimateLine. Their machines is backed by warranty, disinfected and tested.

You do have some extra gear, so I'd say somewhere between $400 - $500 would be a fair price.
