Remstar Pro 2 Motor Life

Post by OwlCreekObserver » Fri Apr 11, 2008 1:54 pm

I haven't visited here for a while but I'm still sucking air through a straw like the rest of you. I finally found a FF mask I could live with a few months ago (PMI Probasics Zzz-Mask). It's the first one I've had that seals well most of the time and I have had absolutely no major problems with it, including the sore nose bridge that the Comfort Full 2 and the Ultra Mirage both gave me.

Anyway, my trusty Respironics Remstar Pro 2 C-Flex machine now has more than 4800 hours on the motor and I'm wondering about how much more life it has in it. It seems to me that someone here once said it had a rating of something like 5000 hours but I couldn't find that post. Anybody know?

I have more than 5,000 on my APAP tank, It pays to have one in the wings. I have two spares, one is new. If you prepare for trouble, Murphy may give you a pass. Jim

I think that the compressor life is somewhat variable. My present machine is a Respironics BiPAP Plus with a current 11,680 usage hours and it is running great. My last previous machine was a Sullivan (Now ResMed) BiLevel that finally died with about 15,300 hours service. I think that your machine is still in a healthy mid-life and will likely last quite a while yet.

Over 11,000 hrs on my apap tank, works fine with no noise. Be sure to keep the filters clean. And, yes, I have another just in case.

My son in law has a Respironics Virtuoso LX which is an APAP manufactured about 1999 or so. Its never been "to the shop" for maintenance, I have no idea how many hours on it. Its still running strong. I keep offering him my Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage but he's satisfied w/his Virtuoso LX.

Responding to MeeKen from Sept 2011 - Wondered if you found a replacement motor? And if so, where. My machine has 14,700 hours on it and just started making a sound like a 747 taking off. I took it apart and it is the exact part number MeeKen was looking for. I can replace it myself if I can find where to buy it. Or does anyone else know where I can find parts for a Respironics machine?? It is a REMPlus w/ C-Flex Model 1009871. Thanks!!!

I don't think Meeken ever came back.
You might check with these guys about where to maybe find the part you are searching for.
