dsm,

Could very well be the same seller. The registered names seem to be in the same style... NickVegas1 vs MarkUSA2000. Also "Nick" is a newly registered seller.

For some reason, the sellers on Yahoo Auctions just seem to be shadier than elsewhere. I bought a new S8 machine and HH a while back and had to badger the seller endlessly to finally get my machine. I got a great deal, but it took quite a bit of extra work to get it.
Sincerely,

DSM,

Who knows if you were right or not? It's such a gamble when you're dealing with these types of auctions, but especially when someone has no feedback or very little. I usually feel protected by the Buyer Protection Plan, if it's over a $30 purchase, or by using Paypal to pay who, as I've written, has really backed me up and protected me.

I guess it's like Bill said, "Caveat Emptor"; and even then, it's got its risks involved. However, I did take a huge plunge with my husband and purchased a 2002 pickup truck back in 2004 from someone on eBay, sight unseen (yes, we might be crazy) and it turned out just fine. Couldn't even see/inspect the vehicle beforehand because it was in Texas, but spoke on the phone to the dealer who was selling it multiple time, got the right feel from him and bought it. He still has and uses the truck today, every day.

I guess it's how much you're willing to take a risk and how safe you think you may be. You just never know with these things. I hope Tooly makes out well if he does go ahead and win this auction. Don't like to see good people get shafted, of course.

DSM,

I assume you called "WE $ELL NOW" and asked why they are attemting to sell YOUR cpap machine (the one you bid and paid for), yet again, and why they didn't send it to you the first time they sold it. (same serial number exactly: RAPP134)
phone: (412) 809-0590.
http://www.wesellnow.com/Locations.htm
http://www.wesellnow.com/Auctions1.htm
It says they will ship internationally.

Having said that, now that I examine that website, it looks like they sell exclusively through eBay. If it's not really them, maybe they would like to know who's using their name and reputation. Looks like they have more to lose. Something doesn't smell right. Hope you can at least get your $$$ back.

Otherwise, maybe try the Pittsburgh P.D. (412) 255-4722

Ric,

I am in awe of the information you were able to get. How did you find out about serial numbers? This is very intriguiging to me. I feel like a total neophyte now when it comes to auctions since you are able to get this type of information. I never knew...good job.

Holy cow! You are so right. Tooly needs to retract the bid or just offer Yahoo this proof if he ends up winning the auction. Geesh! Now I feel bad I put this up to begin with, although I do always put that I do not know the seller or anything about this other than alerting everyone to its existence.

Never mind...I just checked the auction and he is no longer the high bidder (PHEW)!!!!!!1

Lori,

The serial numbers were the same on the two auctions that dsm posted. The machine in the one you posted was a different machine... but you are right that it has ended with another person "buying it" for $399.

Wader,

I thought that meant the two machines, the one DSM bought and the one that Tooly had bid on, had the same serial numbers. Never mind, anyway, now that it's over. Last time I'll post about an auction again ...

Lori,

That's how the auctions can get. I find I often need to take a step back and make sure all the I's are dotted and T's are crossed. It's easy to get confused.

Just think...if it can happen to dsm it can happen to us all. LOL!

Wader,

Thanks for making me feel better about what I thought was almost like leading someone into the lion's den - BUT with good intentions.

Snoredog,

Very happy somethin good came out of it for you. At least someone benefited from this post after all was said and done.

Yahoo Remstar CPAP

Post by wdjensen123 » Sun Apr 30, 2006 5:00 pm

Dear Cpap enthusiasts!

I have been having trouble breathing and choking while I sleep for many years and just learned about CPAP. I looked around for this auto machine and they kept disappearing on Ebay so I found the one you mentioned on Yahoo on my own. I just bought it, and paid for it using Paypal, and it appears to have a smart card, Auto, and C-flex which is what I wanted since I have a phobia about doctors and hospital treatments.

Then I found your forum since I wanted to learn more about it. Now it looks like I pulled the rug out from under the high bidder! Sorry about that. It is going to a good home.

I breathe by my mouth since I have a allergies, dropping jaw, snore chokingly, and sleep on my back. I am thinking I need a full mask. Does that seem correct?

I am looking for that Encore Pro software. Can I use just any smart card reader with this software? Anyone have a spare copy?

I am also looking for a used heated humidifier for Remstar in any condition. I can pay by Paypal right away. I live in Knoxville, TN, and like it USPS priority mail.

Thank you all for listening and any advice you can give.

Sincerely,
Bill Jensen

Bill,

Good luck with your self titration. Hope all goes well and the machine makes it to you in good working condition. There was also an auction for a heated humidifier last I looked. I don't know if it is now over with or not, but might be worth going back and checking it out. OR you can post a separate thread here on the site with a subject line about looking for a Resmtar HH to buy. Sometimes you can get lucky and hook up with someone looking to sell what you need.

Have you gotten a PSG done that told you that you have OSA or are you just going to use the machine and see? You do need to have the Encore Pro software to read the smart card that is included, plus a card reader. Just having the card included with the machine will not allow you access to read your nightly data. It is a must to have the software and card reader.

Good luck to you. Hope you achieve what it is you're looking to achieve and that you can get some good sleep soon.

Hi,
and thanks for the updates.

Just wanted to add that I didn't lose any money as Paypal wouldn't accept payment to the seller as they were deregistered.

The link Lori originally posted does appear to be for a different machine & it does have cflex.

The sale I mixed Lori's link up with is for an AUTO without cflex.

I am happy to let them go on their way. I only wanted the machine to experiment on

Cheers
