I wonder what happens if you have a car accident and the other party's lawyer finds out you have prescription narcotics or a cabinet full of alcohol.

You mean as opposed to having an alcohol card? Oh wait! Those are called driver's licenses.

I have always believed you should be able to grow your for personal use. It's a plant.
Why is OK to ferment and distill PLANTS, but not smoke or cook PLANTS?
Because my parent's generation watched all those freaky propaganda films in the 50's.
Any government that generates revenue by taxing alcohol and tobacco really should have no right to tell its citizens that they can't use the poison of their own choosing. Legalize all or none. Clean out the gene the pool, take away the profit motive to the criminals and generate more tax revenue. Or incarcerate more even more people by making using alcohol and tobacco federal crimes. The current system seems unjust.

It is unjust. The last three Presidents admit to using marijuana but they put millions of people in jail for doing the same.

Not for the government, for the Privatized Prison System. Wackenhut, Corrections Corp...
The profit is privatized, the cost is socialized.

That's funny. You're right! Never thought of it that way.

Regulating the sale and taxation similar to alcohol sales will dwarf the current 'rewards'. Are you factoring in the cost to US taxpayers of housing all those horrible criminals in the penal system??

Or finds out you have to wear a mask to try to sleep at night.
Apnea could be claimed as an accident cause with no way to test your level of current drowsiness; alcohol and MJ are easy to test for.

I think we need the facts checked on this... the part about "millions of people in jail" for using marijuana. I'd be surprised if there are many or any in jail for that reason.

I live in Washington State - voters here just passed to legalize MJ for recreational use - goes into effect on Dec. 6.
Lame attempt at a little dark political humor - don't think I'll be partaking with a house full teenagers - good example and all that.
That said, if inquiring minds want to know - I suppose I could dabble for the sake of research............

Since you mentioned teenagers, does your new law specify a minimum age to be able to buy? For example, here in Oklahoma smokers must be at least 18 in order to
legally purchase cigarettes. I'm not a smoker but I'm just curious how these new laws will work.

Ever see the episode of "Cops" where the kid swears up and down (several times) he has no drugs on him and he has a blunt behind his ear? Funny as heck, but stuff like that happens all the time! I do let Froggies off with a warning the first time, though...
