CPAP mushroom farm for sale.

Post by tswrace » Tue Nov 06, 2012 10:33 pm

I am brand new here. I don't know why I didn't realize this time last year that a forum existed for CPAP users.

Two years in a row I have had two different CPAP machines (Same brand) become infected with mold and become unuseable as I am allergic to mold. I have used HVAC mold tests to validate the mold infections in the machines. Both years the machine became too infected to use in Oct. I tried the machines in different environments and got the same results. I also did environmental mold testing and the machines were in a clean environment.

All I want to do is find a parts schematic or diagram for my machine so I can see how to disassemble it and disinfect it. Thus far the diagram is the only thing I have not found on the internet. I realize the diagram is proprietary information for the mfg. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a outsource repair company for these machines?

Thanks.

Here's one http://www.advanscpap.com/cpap-repair/ or just google cpap repair and you'll get some more hits.

Nothing inside the XPAP will support mold growth, the mold is in your enviroment, mold can grow in the HH and get inside the XPAP maybe if water is left standing in the HH daily and not cleaned out and dried. Your best solution would be to use a external HH and unhook it daily and clean it, or better yet don't use the HH. I haven't used one for two years, I keep it hooked up but run it off and dry. Yes, I find the post very strange and can't imagine how the mold growth occurred. I also don't ever remember anyone else posting about this.

You might want to consider the SoClean device for your situation. It safely uses ozone to destroy mold, bacteria, etc. throughout your CPAP equipment. I'm very sensitive to mold and other allergens, and it's worked really nicely for me. One thing, I'm not sure if its mold-killing properties will reach the inner workings of the machine.

Unless someone mistook your CPAP machine for a food blender and didn't clean it out afterwards, it's difficult to understand how mold is possible.

The SoClean device does not get any ozone into the guts of the CPAP machine, just the mask, hose, and maybe the water tank. Look at their advertising and you'll see this.

I just wrote a lengthy reply and the forum software made it too difficult to post. I lost the reply getting through the software hurdles and I don't have time to rewrite it.

Thanks to everyone that replied to my first message.

I always keep an empty textfile on my desktop to paste text into,
just in case the computer gremlins want to jerk my chain.
If I go over, say 7 lines, I start pasting, because I know "Murphy" is just waiting.

Paul Harvey, lies, he said "No Salesman Will Call". I responded to his ad, two salesman showed up at supper time, wasted to set up a projector, took me 20 minutes of threats to get them off my porch. House has it right, everyone lies. Hijack over! Jim

The machines have a 2 micron filter. Well now:

1. There are many things smaller than two microns - some mold spores for example. As well filters do not fit perfect.

2. Whatever does get in there will likely attach itself to the insides of the machine. Over time the build up, which will contain organic compounds, will support life. If there is enough humidity mold is likely.

Any time you constantly move air you will see this kind of build up. Just look inside your computer after a year or so.

I am reminded that it is time for me to pick up another small ion air cleaner (I normally use something like the Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Wagan-EL2022-Ioni ... d_sim_hg_4 along with a 12v power supply I have and some clip leads) - place this along with my CPAP in a large plastic tub - turn on CPAP and Ionic Air Purifier - put the cap on the plastic tub and let run for an hour or two. Then I let the machine run open in normal room air for an hour to get most of the ozone out. The mild fresh smell for a couple of days seems a plus. I run the humidity higher for a day just to be safe.

Have a great week!

Mostly I've seen mold and mildew where radiant rather than central heat is used. This allows condensation on surfaces that aren't exposed to the radiant heat, which promotes mold growth. Central heat tends to circulate warmed air, which helps to make sure that most surfaces get warmed. You can get some of the same effect with radiant heat by using ceiling fans, or other ways to move heated air.

Don't know if this is relevant for the OP, but when we lived in a house that was only heated with a wood stove, we experienced this.
