Quattro FX headgear
Is there an alternative to the headgear that comes with this mask? I have a medium but it always gets stretched. I guess I just need to order a small and see if it works better

Re: Quattro FX headgear
There is a small, but it has to be ordered separately. I got one, and it fit me much better.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Re: Quattro FX headgear
every quattro fx and quattro fx for her comes with medium headgear. every other size must be ordered and paid for seperately.

Re: Quattro FX headgear
I purchased a Quatro FX for ladies and used the fitting suggestions from the manufacturer but it was too small. Got another one in medium and it fit better but after a while it leaks air keeping me awake. I went back to the nose pillows. Am now considering that hybrid mask combo nose pillows/oral.

Re: Quattro FX headgear
The Quattro FX is a bit harder to master. It won't work for everybody, but even those who are successful with it have some transition time. My sleep tech fitted me with one, and it fit perfectly, no leaks. I got the same mask when I got my machine, and it leaked like crazy. It took a lot of practice, and advice from people here on the forum. But it is pretty consistent now that I can get it to fit right the first or second time. And it doesn't usually leak unless I start drooling.I purchased a Quatro FX for ladies and used the fitting suggestions from the manufacturer but it was too small. The first few weeks, I would spend half an hour fighting with it and swearing at it. But I knew it *could* fit right since it did at the sleep study. It really did take a lot of practice to get it right. These days, I can usually go a week or longer without adjusting the velcro. It used to be several times per night.

Re: Quattro FX headgear
My point was that it may take a few weeks of trying before you know that for sure. My mask leaked like crazy for the first month, and now it fits great. The mask did not change. I simply got better at fitting it. This mask does take a lot of practice to fit correctly. In my case, I was placing it too high causing it to leak at the eyes. If I overcompensated, it would be too low and leak at my chin. If I get it just right, it doesn't leak at all.
Give it some practice. You may find that it fits better with practice. I fought with mine and got a hybrid since I knew I needed a full face mask. I ended up being happier with the Quatro FX.

Re: Quattro FX headgear
I can't make this mask not leak at high pressures at the top of the mask. I've tried keeping the top straps loose. I've tried tightening them in small increments to a point where I 'm now getting strap marks and the leak still won't go away as my pressure hits about 14cm + and beyond. I run a range of 9.5 - 16.5cm on my aPAP. I was fitted for the "Large" at the DME. I'm afraid I'm going to have to turn this mask in and either try an alternate FFM or go back to nasal pillows and figure out a way to keep my mouth shut without an uncomfortable chinstrap which proved useless OR inability (facial hair/mustache) and slight fear of taping.

Re: Quattro FX headgear
Lazer, like you, I couldn't make the quattro fx stop leaking. It either leaked around my eyes or the cushion would separate from the frame. I finally went back to the plain Quattro - no leaks. I use my Zeo with the plain quattro, either incorporating the sensor into the headgear (see previous posts) or just wearing it above the forehead piece of the mask.
Did the DME use the measuring device that comes with the FX? This mask seems to work better smaller rather than larger.

Re: Quattro FX headgear
Thanks Jay. I do have the plain Mirage Quattro I obtained from another forum member (used) in a medium some months back and I think I do have a little more success with it. I should probably talk with the DME and check the sizing that they would actually suggest for me and consider giving it a fair chance. When I have worn it to test the waters, I also found I could just wear the Zeo above it... Must be my receding hair-line, heheJay Aitchsee wrote:Lazer, like you, I couldn't make the quattro fx stop leaking. It either leaked around my eyes or the cushion would separate from the frame. Re: Quattro FX headgear
I agree.... try out a medium in the Quattro FX....
it's funny for the Resp. Comfortgel blue FFM, I required a large. But both the quattro FX and the standard Quattro that I have are mediums.
one of these days, I'll post the 2 day old large Resp. Comfortgel FFM up for trade in exchange for some medium Quattro parts.

Re: Quattro FX headgear
Thanks.
I have had the mask for probably close to a year. The past couple months I sleep fine until around 5am or so. Then it starts leaking and I can't get it to stop. And I can't velcro it any tighter b/c i have run out of room. I'll probably try the small head gear. If it doesn't work I will go back to the Quattro. I just hated the marks on my forehead

Re: Quattro FX headgear
Interesting. I just printed and cut this out and ran into the RR at work to measure in mirror. Sure enough as per the DME with the Quattro FX, my size is a Large as given.Jay Aitchsee wrote:Here's a link provided by our host for the Quattro FFM sizing guide.

I notice this is for the Mirage Quattro which I also have per a (hand me down) - used in size medium and have had mixed results with it. Assuming this template is actually noted for that mask (with the forehead brace) = then I would actually be in need of the Mirage Quattro in a Large also, correct?
Maybe I should ask to trade out the Quattro FX for the Mirage Quattro if this is the case and I would fair better possibly.
