Only one additional comment about the computer. My laptop does not have an SD card slot, so for $6.00, I bought a SD Card Reader at Fry's which plugs in to my USB port.

A search of cpap equipment will give you all the information you will need about purchasing equipment. Of course, this website is sponsored by Cpap.com and they sell everything you will need.

I am sure others will chime in to provide more information (and download links for the software). Best of luck in your therapy!

I hope this is an AutoSet not an Escape Auto that is headed your way.
Absolutely.

Look next to the power button. If it says "Escape Auto," do not accept it.

If it says "AutoSet," it's a great machine, much better than the Escape Auto.

Yet another example why we need to stamp out the use of the term "S9 Auto".

Welcome! You are the boss - not the DME! It is your life that is on the line - not theirs. Be INSISTENT on what you want. I think you've already figured this out, but it's always a good reminder to all of us.

You will feel better even if it takes a little while to figure everything out. Remember, it takes time for cpap to help heal your body. You may not feel better instantly. Wishing you the best on your new life journey!

Okay, so this is my first question on this site. I have been browsing around for a few days and love the info I have gathered! Two nights ago I started using a Resmed Elite with a Pilairo nasal pillow. I have only been able to use for around two-three hours per night due to extreme aerophagia. (This is so bad ((on a pressure of 6!)) that two years ago I gave up on cpap therapy altogether...have a much better Dr. This time around and a more "I WILL do this." Attitude.) After a new sleep study I am now on a pressure of 10.

I have seen on this site where a bpap or an apap has worked for reducing this problem in some people. My question is what would be the easiest/fasted route for switching? I am assuming I will need a script for the different machine?

Seven years after my initial diagnosis I am really ready for a decent nights sleep!

Sunpoppy-Welcome to the forum!

It would probably be better to start your own thread as a new topic. You will get more responses that way. As I am a newbie myself I can't answer your questions but others will. Just go to the top of the home page and click on "Post a New Topic" and start your thread. Best of luck!

Check with your insurance company on allowable replacement schedule for the other parts. If it mimics Medicare here is the usual allowable time frame for allow replacements on the Medicare schedule.
http://www.resmed.com/us/documents/1013 ... sories.pdf
Some items don't really need to be replaced at such short intervals. It's probably a good idea to have a working spare of everything. Someone yesterday found that their tubing (long hose) had multiple pin holes in it..
The Swift FX headgear will last many, many months. The nasal pillows...how long they last seems to be highly individual. I get multiple months out of a set and others barely make 2 weeks.
Normally most of the stuff I get is through my DME using my insurance but sometimes I find other sources...just depends on the deal and what I want.
I'm insured but since I have a high deductible the equipment and supplies will be paid by me so I need to make sure they aren't giving me stuff monthly that i could use bimonthly and such since again I'm the one paying pretty muuch.

I'm off to a bad start, today I had the appointment with Apria for them to install it for me and they did NOT show up, no call no nothing and when i called they told me to wait and when i called again they told me it had been rescheduled to wednesday without even telling me, I took half a day off work today in order to meet this appointment, lost half a day's paycheck Tomorrow morning I'm calling them and if I dont get it installed at a time convenient to me I will cancel my order and go with Lincare..
I'm thinking of throwing an even bigger fit to see if I can get any discount or product upgrade, I am getting the S9 autoset with fx nasal swift pillow, they better give me a freebie or something, any ideas on something I can try to get out of them?

The only thing I've gotten out of them is a new mask to sample (from the LT to the FX -- love the FX) and a "Not for sale" sample mask (the Mirage FX).

The thing is, you are not their customer, the insurance company is. So they don't really care, as you may have noticed. Many people have said things like "I will go somewhere else" and they just shrug. Compared to most DME staff a used car salesman is fount of honesty and service.
