Nosebleeds and CPAP

Post by Lisa21264 » Fri Nov 02, 2012 7:01 pm

My son was diagnosed with OSA and is doing a CPAP study tonight. I am worried because he gets horrendous nosebleeds and we have to go to the hospital to get them stopped. I wonder if they are using a unit with a humidifier. I'm very nervous that he will get one while he's there.

My sleep study with the cpap machine to establish pressure needs included a humidifier that was attached.
They normally try to make the person as comfortable as possible. Just make the tech aware of the situation ahead of time to be sure that one is used.

I just told my husband to tell the tech there that he gets severe nosebleeds.

Definitely let the sleep specialist know about the bloody noses. The one that was in my study, even though they never put it on me, had a humidifier. I know that if I had developed any problems the night person would have taken me right down to the Emergency Room so it is important to let them know any health issues. Good luck with the study!
