What is your worst CPAP cut/bruise/injury?

Post by chdurie2 » Fri Apr 28, 2006 3:09 pm

Hi All--

A couple of days ago, we heard about Gidgie's cut in the back of her neck from cpap straps. This morning, when I woke up, I found that my UMFF had bit me in the nose, near the eye--a weird looking red scrape that feels none too good--from where I think it dug into me. So I was wondering: What's the worst that CPAP has done to you besides frustration, nights of poor sleep, etc.? (Maybe Mike Moran would say that I've arrived, now that I have a real, live CPAP injury.) The rest of you?

Caroline

I suffered through one week while adjusting to nasal pillows, but it was worth it.

One morning while looking in the mirror, I noticed a dent on the top of my bald forehead. Asked my wife if it was noticeable. Of coarse, she said she had noticed it also. It was a mystery for a while. Finally figured it out. The top pad on my Breeze headgear sat right where the dent was. Switched back to Adam's Circuit mask and after a while dent disappeared. Have not used the Breeze since.

Self flagellation with the CPAP machine during our town's Festival of the Breathless Saints.

But we all go through this same ritual anually, do we not?

Caroline, it may please you to learn that my cpap 'bite' is healing, and I have forgiven my headgear for inflicting it upon me.......maybe I'll have to go back and retrain it........But your nose! That was nasty.......bad, bad, bad......

Gidgie:

Yeah, it was really kind of weird. I switched from series 2 to UMFF/FP431 because Series 2 was digging into my cheekbone. Last nite i got about two hours of sleep before a final (ugh, not good for performance) and i was afraid to go to sleep for fear i would not wake up on time. Turned out no problem on that score, and I could tell I slept unusually hard and maybe deep. Anyway, after looking at mask today, I see that it was the inside of the adjustable portion between forehead and nose that was digging into me and maybe moving a little; there was a dot of blood on my cheek when i woke up. My glasses mostly hides it, but it's just sore from being scraped in a sensitve place. I forgive the mask, because although not the best two hours of sleep i'v ever had, i think it was better than two hours without the mask,

Gidgie:

Glad to know you are healing. I was getting worried about you.
