Phrenic nerve stimulation

Just for the heck of it, DH saw a news vid last night about an experimental new surgery
for central apnea. Talk amongst yourselves . . .

Sounds like it's been around awhile. Leave it to the news hounds to get that part wrong.
I can't find the article right now, but some company has chosen their 45 "test subjects";
and are publicizing their testing even before they have any results--Does this sound familiar?
Judging by the costs of pacemakers, this is unlikely to ever be cost-effective.
Why do you suppose they want to do it?

What are other effective treatment for centrals? I'm glad I just have obstructive sleep apnea and cpap works for me, seems easy in comparison.

Hi - a doctor I worked for in 1980 put in the first 'Pisces" PNS in Canada in a quadriplegic patient who otherwise would have been stuck on a ventilator or equivalent for the rest of her life... they're terrific things and if you get a chance to look into one, vs cpap, check it out!
