Post by AleTalk » Mon Oct 15, 2012 10:44 pm

Last night was my first on cpap which I can try for a week. My doctor is on seminar and I am out of the country. Need to understand these data mean.

I use a face mask (not full face).

I am a newbie CPAP user, but I will try to answer for the part of the data.

You have auto CPAP machine. The pressure is varied depending on the airway resistance.
Your pressure settings are between 3 and 17. Average is 4.8. If such low pressure helps you, it is good.
RDI is Respiratory Disturbance Index. Lower is better. I think that everything below 5 is OK.
It is calculated as Obstructive apnea index + Central apnea index (0.9 + 1.3 in your case).
Apnea index tells how many apneas you have per hour (obstructive or central).

I hope that helps at least a bit.
I also hope that someone else will answer for other data because I don't know the ranges for other data and don't know what is RIPs /h.

Thanks for the reply.

I am back to the country and I am switching to full face mask tonight to see the difference. I can try the full face mask for 2 days.

The page you posted is all summary data and averages. It does give a general picture that your therapy is working well - an RDI (actually AHI) of 2.2 is very good.

If you are interested in more detailed and better data there is a page of the Somnomed report that has timelines showing minute-by-minute what is happening during the night. I don't know the title of that page but their website says, "Detailed illustration of signals and events in the titration night".

The detail is the only report I rely on however if you are getting good results and feeling well the summary page may suit your needs.

Funny but you sound coherent to me.

Could you tell me where I can find Weinmannsupport software (from your screenshot)?

I am Weinmann Somnobalance user but I am not able to track my therapy without software.
