Post by pharmwoman » Wed Apr 26, 2006 5:00 am

where do you get one? I use a regular hose with a custom made cover--is that close to the results you get?

Great company, super fast delivery, excellent product. Most hose heads love their Aussie Heated hose and dealing with this company (the Fischers) is nice. Quality product and company!

I was never satisfied until I got the heated hose - well worth the investment!

I got my Aussie hose about 2 weeks ago and am wondering why on earth I didn't do it sooner!! What a wonderful thing not to wake up snuffing water or hearing that gurgling sound. Then having to disconnect everything and shake out the water. A wonderful company and very nice people.

The Fischers sent the hose with a little sample packet of Vegemite (sounds like a Saturday Night Live product) and a print out explanation of the famous Australian product. Kids in Australia eat it like American kids eat peanut butter and jelly. Well I had this a few years back when I lived in Europe and it is awful. I gave it to my friend and told her she and her son can experience some international cuisine. He wouldn't try it until she did and once in her mouth she couldn't get it out fast enough!! She tried eating and drinking a whole bunch of stuff to get rid of the awful taste in her mouth without success. Needless to say he refused to follow suit. When she called and told me about this I was laughing so hard but I reminded her that IF she read the printout, wouldn't the "Vegemite is an aquirred taste" sort of tell her to beware?? Payback time will happen when I least expect it.

Big difference

Post by Bellcrest » Wed Apr 26, 2006 9:46 am

Covering an ordinary hose with fleece and using an aussie heated hose is very different.

I love my heated hose. It is one of the most important things I have done for myself in this apap journey to better sleep.

I am currently using the aura/headrest with HH set at 4.....without the aussie heated hose this would not be possible. I have no rainout at all.

The heated hose has coils built in and an adapter that plugs into the wall, it heats the hose to prevent condensation or "rainout". Does the fleece hose cover keep you from experiencing the rainout? If so, the heated hose might not be needed for you. I keep my bedroom temp pretty low in the winter and have a heated humidifier and was always waking up with the rainout problem. From what I read it even works well in the summer with air conditioning. Most of us who have them wouldn't be without them, I know it is a "must" now for me!

I just switched from a Breeze to a Swift and I notice water in the nasal chamber thingy in the morning but not in any of the hoses. Actually snuffling that water in the nasal chamber bothers my nose and wakes me up at night.
Would the Aussie heated hose help this problem or is it only for water in the hose? Note: I do have a heated humidifier and I didn't have this problem with the Breeze.
Thanks for any help you can give!

I have the Aussie heated hose and it stopped the rainout I was getting with the Swift.

I am now using a Nasal mask so the rainout is not as severe so I'm not using the Heated hose for the summer. IT actually got TOO WARM, like being in an Amazon rain forest - without the rain.

I had to turn the HH down with the Heated hose.

If I get rainout this summer withthe Air COnditioning I'll use it again. Right now I like to coolness just so long as I don;t get that splash of water in the face.

I ordered a heated hose yesterday and got an email saying it will ship this afternoon my time and I shoud have it in about 10 days. $109 delivered, power supply is now included in US / Canadian shipments. The rainout showed up when the air con. started running in the night.

I had my first ever rainout the other night. Night time temps fell sharply and we had the window open above our headboard. That cold air falling down must have finally caused enough condensation to blow it into my nose!

So NOW I know what rainout is! hehehe. Anyways... I may try a fleece cover first only because after 5 years I've only had rainout once. But if it happens again it will be well worth the cost of the Aussie heated hose to ensure it doesn't happen again.

That is exactly what happened to me. I almost couldn't stand how warm it got. I guess I am in the minority. I don't think I will be using mine for the summer either providing I don't get any rainout. It also seems like it tends to dry things out if I don't have the humidity on at least 3. I was wondering if the heat from the hose tends to cause the air coming from the humidifier to dry out by the time it reaches our noses since I sometimes wake up with a really dry nose.

On the really cold nights though, I wouldn't trade it!

If if you keep the humidifier temperature the same, the air in a heated hose will feel drier than the air that comes from a non-heated one. The nice thing about the heated hose is that you can have your humidifier higher, giving you more humidity, with less condensation (rainout).

I live in a very dry climate, and have been using my heated hose since August (and August is summer here)..

I don't see how anyone could use the Headrest/Aura without it. I get rain out if I just think about moisture. In order to use the Headrest with HH I need to get some added insulation. I get rainout with passover humidification. It's amazing!

I have never had any moisture with the Swift, no insulation and the HH cranked up to 5 unless room temp is below 65. I do notice the extra warmth coming from the hose and if it is warm in the bedroom (too frequent right now because my building is between heating/cooling switchover) I find it a little uncomfortable.
