As an electrical engineer, I can tell you that being near a wire carrying low voltage DC current, will produce no electromagnetic emmisions. The cell phone debate is based on radio frequency emmisions which cannot occur with a climate line hose, it is just a wire carrying a low DC current.

The effect of the CL hose will be the same as sleeping next to an extremely weak magnet, which some "quacks" beleive has a positive health effect based on the sale of magnetic bracelets as a cure all...

And magnets are commonly used to secure prosthetic ears/noses, etc.

Has anyone else really thought about this?
Not until now but I thank you for bringing it up. I have a lovely image of rows and rows of white lab rats with miniature cpaps strapped on with and without heated hoses. I seriously doubt that long term research has been done. Those studies usually aren't done even where they would be easier to do.

Personally I'd find a slight headache more than enough reason to avoid something so I'd never even get to the point of worrying about cancer. I'm with the poster who suggests you find out if you really need the climate line hose at all. Just because something's nice as an idea doesn't mean it's necessary. Or even that it matters at all to you personally.

Yes, many of us don't even use a humidifier. (But if you are in an arid climate you may absolutely need one.)

Is it possible that the slight headaches are a coincidence? IF you feel you would benefit more with your therapy with a CL Hose I would suggest try it again. How many headaches have you attributed to the CL Hose so far? Were there any other changes in your sleeping environment that could possibly be a factor? Or stress? Just thought that if this is something you really want to continue with your therapy maybe you can pinpoint something else. I don't have a CL Hose so can't speak to the use of one directly but was wondering by those of you who do use them, are they much heavier than a regular hose or less flexible? Just thought I could throw that out there in case there is additional "pull" on your mask equipment. I know certain Sunglasses I have worn caused slight headaches that I attributed to a tighter fit.

There are a lot of things our science doesn't know. This isn't one of them.

Radio waves and electric fields don't cause any harm to the human body unless they're so strong they cause heating of the body or electric shocks.

Animals or people exposed to fields thousands of times stronger than electric blankets and heater hoses don't show any biological effects.

Here's an example of something that muddies the water.

"Innocente Marcolini, a former commerce manager in Brescia developed a tumor of the trigeminal ganglion, near his left ear, and claimed it was a consequence of speaking on a mobile phone up to six hours a day for twelve years because his job demanded it."

Perhaps it was not "what" the phone threw off, but the constant pressure of the phone itself rubbing on or near his ear that caused the ganglion.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I think the radar gun thing started with one very unhappy trooper looking for others in the same predicament.
Proving the cancer to be job-related could have made a big difference, warranting added safety testing on the guns,
maybe even re-design of equipment or procedures if they were proven carcinogenic.
They didn't have a choice to use radar guns; but our Monica can use a regular hose, if she feels safer. It's OK.

I've come to the conclusion that what ever you do or take somebody says if you do it to much it will kill you. If you read the side effects on the medicine you take you wouldn't take any of it. At my age I don't worry about it, somebody is always stirring the pot.

Theses days, I believe almost anything can cause cancer. We like to blame it on something. But you have brought up a point I hadn't considered, that being a headache. I am very sensitive to "electricity." I don't use a climate hose but had considered it. I used an electric blanket for years but got to the point where I could feel the current running thru it. It scared me. My husband laughed at me until one night he ran his foot down my leg and I shocked him. Needless to say, the blanket came off. I also experienced headaches from it.

We lived in a house that had high lines at the back of our 2 acre lot. For me, they caused headaches. I can also tell when an electrical storm is coming, as I get headaches. So laugh if you want, we all need a good laugh but yes, Monica, I believe the hose could cause your headaches. As I said, I had considered one but I think this has changed my mind. Thanks for the heads up! As Chunkyfrog has stated, we have a choice and the climate hose may not be the wisest choice for some of us "electric" people.

Many people make claims like that. The problem is that when you test them, they usually can't really tell. For instance, someone who is "sensitive" to electricity will react the same whether the electricity is on or off.

A little off topic and a little on! Okay, people do have different sensitivities to different things based on their personal chemistry make-up that certainly could be abnormal for most of the population. That is one reason why I would try and consider any other possible culprits causing the headaches but I personally wouldn't rule out that some people, even if a VERY small minority might have a sensitivity to close electrical currents causing some discomfort, even at low voltage AC or DC. But the OP was wondering if the Heated Hoses could cause Cancer. I personally do not believe it could because there is no transmission of any kind. The Hose is directly hooked to the machine at the connection point where there are no wireless signals being transmitted. Unlike Xray's and Cat Scan's where waves are passed through your body by a radioactive transmission to produce the image results. Again, do the risks outweigh the need? If pretests indicate a possible Brain Tumor then yes, or a fracture needs to be repaired, yes. Pretty much the OP has to be comfortable for therapy to be as affective as possible. It's good to ask questions. If you try the CL Hose a few more times I don't believe you are going to get Cancer, but if you eliminated everything else in your sleeping environment and still find your having headaches, I would simply use a regular hose to be comfortable, worry free, and get the best nights sleep possible!
Okay, here is an observation made by several people in my area. We are all basically in a Verizon network area but At&T Smart Phones also work by a deal made with Verizon to allow them to use their towers. Here's what we found. At&T phones cause emissions that penetrate our computer speakers, TV's, Radio's, Handheld Recorders, and Car Stereo's. Whenever someone is at our house or in our vehicle we can clearly hear electrical static before the person's phone rings or text message arrives. Not just on one brand phone either, probably at least three different AT&T Smart Phones cause this in our area. Does it mean anything, I don't know? But I can tell them when they are about to receive a phone call or message EVERY time! Just a tidbit of interesting verified information I thought I would share! Hope everyone's well tonight!

My daughter died of cancer & the cancer foundation told her not to use a heating pad .I am very afraid to use one now ,,All you have to do is Google this question about heating pads to find an answer.. I wouldn't know about the hose but because it also
Generates electromagnetic fields I would keep it as far away from your body as possible just be one the safe side

http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA400236/C ... ancer.html

READ MORE HERE
Household appliances such as heating pads, electric blankets and mattress covers, plug-in hair dryers, computers, and coffeemakers all generate electromagnetic fields (EMFs), invisible lines of force that surround electrical equipment, power cords, and power lines. For the past two decades, researchers have been investigating whether these EMFs can disrupt internal body control systems and increase the risk of cancer or weaken the immune system. So far no studies have confirmed that EMFs increase the risk of cancer among adults. (Some studies have suggested a link between EMFs and childhood leukemia, but here evidence relates to the proximity of power lines, not household appliances.) The bad news is that the possibility of an EMF/cancer connection hasn't been definitively ruled out.

Based on the above Post and reading some more information I'll stand corrected that there is no transmission because of the direct connection to the machine. Apparently there is according to research, "Household appliances such as heating pads, electric blankets and mattress covers, plug-in hair dryers, computers, and coffeemakers all generate electromagnetic fields (EMFs), invisible lines of force that surround electrical equipment, power cords, and power lines." I was well aware of the wireless transmissions and appreciate the Post above. Just another note, I believe my power supply is a 24V rather than 12V. Sorry about the mistake!
