New Probasics zzz pap Zzz-Ware Compliance

I received my new Probasics zzz pap. I installed the Zzz-WARE Compliance software, created a user name.
I then ran the machine for a few minutes.
I connected the machine with the supplied USB cord.

It connected to the serial port just fine
It took quite a few tries to get it to Download via serial the data but finally did.

I used it last night, tried to download data this morning and nothing but errors.

I then removed the SD card, inserted to my computer and the disk is not formatted.
There are no files on the disk.

So I formatted the disk. put it back in the machine.

I then ran the machine for a few minutes
Turned machine off, tried serial download again, nothing there Errors
Inserted the sd card in computer, No files are on the sd disk.

What is the problem here, anyone using the Zzz-Ware software. I work with computers every day, what is wrong with this device?

Ok, Decided to go to the manufactures site. http://www.pmiusa.biz/sleep.html
There is a How to SD card link.

Turns out, you don't need the card in the machine while you sleep.

It works like this:

Plug in machine, standby mode. Then insert the sd card. There is a message that reads 'CARD'
You wait about 70 seconds and it then reads 'OK CARD'

Now you can go to the software, pulg in the USB cable and Download the data.

I plugged in the USB cable and i watched my computer install the driver. It said COM9 was the com port.
When I used the software and executed the menu command COM port Autoconnect. It connected to COM7 not COM9
So i selected COM9 manually and then downloaded the data.

I am not sure, i think it is creating a new com port every time I plug the device in the computer. I will investigate this.

Have a look at the first nights data. The one section of pressure at 2 was the time I knocked the mask off while sleeping, I woke up and put it back on.

Glad you got it sorted out. I don't know of anyone else on this forum who is an active member using this machine and its software who could step up and help you.

Your report looks pretty darn good. They give you a nice red line in the leak graph which we assume means "stay away".
AHI well under 1.0 and that is excellent. Leak line was very acceptable for the most part. It is easy to see where it went up a little. Leaks are always going to be a bit of a PITA anyway. Always a war we don't quite ever win totally.

Thank's pugsy, my initial post and Cpap machine was back in july 2005. The server today actually went down just after my post today
Not sure if my old mysql data from 2005 created the error, may be something to look into though, I imagine mysql servers have been changed quite a bit and there may be some old server database for old clients that get updated only if they post.

Anyway I will update my profile soon.

I do have a mustache at the moment so that may be the leak problem. We will see tomorrow i will upload more charts.

I went through some weight changes over the years, in 2007 I was lifting weights, got my biceps from 17 up to 19 and fat level to very low at 190lbs
At that point I pretty much did not need cpap to sleep well but as I gained the weight back up to 235 I needed it all the time.
A few months ago I found Whole Foods grocery store. I have dropped back to 205lbs and i think that is why even at 8 pressure I am doing so well.
many times I fall asleep watching TV in the early evening (after staying up till 4am the night before and getting up at 8am)
My wife says I don't even snore, I use to apnea all the time when doing that.

So with very little sleep the last few weeks working late in the night and early mornings my cpap is working great. I did go to Atlanta for a few days without a cpap and my wife said I snored like crazy, was very tired the next day, so i still need the machine.

I am working on getting an O2 monitor, i don't have a clue why anyone can't just buy one for self diagnosis, I want to do some studies on myself without the cpap
machine and see if I apnea. Also i want to study my o2 with the machine.

I think it is pretty lame to have these laws that don't allow people to experiment like this. Especially when 80% of the people that need this are not even diagnosed and their doctors don't even have a clue to what this problem really is. So i have no clue how setting a machine yourself can harm you in any way when you compare the masses that need it don't even have it.

I did some testing with the serial ports.

Unplugging the USB and then plugging back in removes one USB-to Serial comport and then creates a new one.
Right now I have 2 com ports 7 and 9 (look at Device manager you will see Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM:number)

unplug
com 7 removed
plug back in
com9 disapears and i now have com 5 and 7
unplug
com 5 is removed
plug back in
com 5 comes back

Try downloading on com 5
error actually gave some information this time Device Busy it said, please download in standby mode.
Well it was in standby mode
Try downloading again and IT WORKS again.

Since it said the device was busy, i assume it really was busy so:

Unplug
com 5 is removed
plug back in
WAIT 30 SECONDS
Download works fine.

I think because this is not an apple I phone, it has some not so bright programmers writing the software, heck to still be using serial ports even virtual ones is pretty lame, why not just put in a real USB for crap sake.


As far as the SD card goes though. The machine must have a different format as my computer Windows7 can not read it, it wants me to format it.
When I do format it, the machine re formats it so the only way to get the data is to dowload it with the virtual comm port/USB

I still don't know how much memory is on the machine and how much data it will collect for how long. I may just create a new user every month and reset the machine to start a new dataset. I will email the mfg about this question.

I am a happy hose head though, I like this little machine, Going to Vegas next week so I had to have a portable one, the other one I have is a big resmed cpap c-flex machine I have run for about 6 years now I think.

It's easy to monitor your own oxygen levels if you want to. Get an overnight recording pulse oximeter. Insurance won't pay for it but it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. No RX required and they are remarkably accurate.
I have the CMS 50D Plus. It suits my needs because I only wanted to be able to check it overnight every now and then.

This should be a standard for treatment, why the heck they (the mainstream medical community) don't involve the patient in doing these things is remarkable.

Be sure to get the 50D PLUS Pugsy mentioned. The 50D doesn't record. "PLUS" is the important difference.

I chose the 50 DPlus because it was easy to change the batteries and the least expensive that would do what I want.
I didn't see the need for the other more expensive models because mine wasn't going to be used every night. The original intention was every couple of months or when I wasn't feeling good.. So far I have used it once since last spring. As expected...no desats that were worth getting excited over. I got mine from the pulse oxstore because Kevin bends over backwards to make sure you get the right software and instructions that go with what you by to make it easy as pie to get your software reports. He will tell you exactly what to get and what to do.
